9_6: Thanks for that. Means a lot coming from someone whose pixel art I like a lot, especially the animations.
You know this sprite avctually reminded me of Street Fighter Alpha 2 so that additional extra is just plain awesome!
I'd like to see more sprites by you. =)
I like this one best.
It's just a normal guy without magic or robot arms or any of that pishposh yet it still looks more interesting than others while also staying true to the challenge rules.
Thanks for the tips. I had tried some of that but wasn't overall satsified with it. And thanks for saying that last bit though I'm sure you must waste time checking because I very rarely post much at all other than update the Doctor Who sprites bit which is more of a personal hobby. Very much appreciate the comment though :)
This is very good. I think perhaps the stripes would look better if the contrast were lowered on them and also if possible the stripe itself were thinner.
I know you aren't working on it anymore, but I guess some ideas can't hurt anyway.
Whenever I go to this site you are one of the few artists I make a point of checking out to see if any new pieces have been submitted.
Thanks. I particularly like your style for colorful monsters.
Sweet stuff, man. Nice to see you work again!
This is my favorite entry so far. I like the pallete for the jeans, in particular.
The sprite gives the feeling of the old Beat 'em Up's but still good your recognisable style, great job!
And I have to agree with Delicious, would be awesome to see some more charakters.
Could you make more fighter sprites? Gosh, your style is to drool for and works well with this type of stuff.
You might be right but I'm not gonna touch it anymore. And thanks about the jacket. It's only a cheap one I got from Primark a year and half ago (was already cheap at the tagged price of £20 but came through the checkout at £10) but it's mine and I wear it lots so it's part of my general look these days. Heh.
Yes - I also like the fact that your wearing your own clothes too!
Very nice, but my only nitpick is the back leg as I feel that it would work better if the knee was pointing inwards, rather than out.
(That's a very cool jacket your wearing:)
Main point of these challenges is to really just give you an idea to inspire your creativity and the 'restrictions' are there to help develop your pixelling skills so just take part and anything you do is likely to make you a better pixel artist anyway. Just had a look at your gallery and you've got some very nice works in there (and hey you've even WON one of these before) and show a lot of promise so please do enter. :)
Has it improved? Been so long since I did this sort of thing. Some bits still bug me. The arms look almost like they're different sizes but on the original photo I took of myself to pose it looks like that anyways, perhaps due to foreshortening and depth. Some things can just look 'wrong' in real life too I suppose.
And yeah my 'boxy' black shoes of stompiness. They were meant to be just for job interviews and special occasions but since my trainers fell apart I've had to wear them for most things now til I can get some more trainers. Sucks being unemployed.
What a great sprite! It looks like you're style's improved, yes? Those jeans are mighty fine, too!
*Gasp!* Those boots...
@Carnivac, I think your point of view would make this challenge more interesting. Your entry makes me want to submit a new and more accurate one, and I'd love to start right now!, too bad I can't :(
maybe tomorrow :)
Its gunna be a hard contest against that :o
May the best pixeler win!
(which probibly wont be me x#)
What's the point of pixelling 'yourself' if you end up dressed in clothes that aren't yours or not even resembling yourself in any way? And considering I wear that jacket pretty much all the time I'm out, people have just got used to seeing me in it so it's part of my look.
Where does it say in the rules you can only be wearing your own clothes? :P
Yeah your right arm looks like the skin is showing through. You'd probably be better off removing those stripes.
Love it - reminds me of an early 2000 KoF game!
