I don't really agree that Hulk should be green, at least in the context of the mockup and the enemies on this sheet. Mainly because the main characters have two main colour schemes, Blue and Grey/Red or Red and Yellow whilst enemies and backgrounds are fundamentally green or blue. It just lets them stand out on the green.
I really love these sprites and they have that real NES feel to them. I'm just wondering, what NES restrictions are actually in place?
I agree with Jinn. Perhaps Hulk should be green.
The sprites are well done!
I'm SUCH a sucker for these style of sprites, especially with those really retro palettes like forest green/black/grey. And the animations are frickin awesome. Insta fave
Whoa, those sprites are quite great. I like them!
Really cute, tiny style. I liked the other and this preview of characters. Would like to see how you fit that into the nes format / colors / limitations. Would be cool have a game with these graphics, btw! :P
@Desterrado, Well, in NES you can just use 4 colors for sprites and 1 have to be transparent. So that leave you just 3 colors for each sprite/character. No matter what palette is, just 3 colors and you just have 4 palettes. Backgrounds can use 4 colors aswell (you dont need transparent color). So youre limited to 4 palettes of 3 colors (sprites) and 4 palettes of 4 colors (backgrounds). Minimum size of each sprite is 8x8. (this is all from my own experience doing nes graphics).
