I guess my monitor is too bright. Or my room too dark.

Nice, but hellllla dark! I had to fullscreen just to make out the details. There might be ways to do darkness that don't require limiting the palette
this is really fantastic work mate i really love this style
Some brilliant use of lighting in a piece that looks restricted to something reasonably practical to use in the average platformer.
It looks good and I think it should be allowed in the challenge even if you had the concept, or rather game thought out ahead of time. It doesn't mean you had the piece already done. It's certainly a favorite of mine in this weekly challenge.
The head and hearts were redone from scratch. If you didn't notice that means I did a good job :D

I still don't think this should be in the challenge, either. You have this game already thought out well before the challenge, and it almost seemed like a coincedence that it fit. I think the "planning" stage should also be completely new.
But I'm not a moderator. This is just my opinion. It's a very nice piece, but I think you had an advantage by having an idea already worked out before. Also, the head and hearts were in the last mockup too ;)
Apologies, I was rushing things as usual and forgot about the rule! Fixed.

This is a wonderful looking mockup but can't be added to the challenge :(

PJ weekly challenges must be created during the challenge week and consist of 100% new pixelart. This is where the challenge comes in and help develop speed and accuracy in your pixelart in general. I can't really tell which tiles are new here and what is already created. For sure the knight sprite already existed so this cannot be entered for the challenge which is a shame because this is a winning mockup.
If you dispute or correct this submission and want it back in the challenge make sure you PM any Mod before the challenge clock ends.
Loved the dark mood.
