Yeah. For example I heavily dislike the PSN game 'Journey' and yet I've seen a couple pieces lately based on it I really liked (the NES 'demake' mock up in particular). I can appreciate good pixel work even if it's of a subject of I've no interest in but if it is of something I like then even better (and more likely to end up as my PS3/PSP's wallpaper background. :P )
yeah i stay on here more to see people like you, dawnbringer, mrmo tarius and jinn's work when you guys/girls post something. occassionally you will find a rare gem that didnt belong to any of you but thats a rare case.
what you pointed out about alot of stuff being inspired by stuff that isnt of any paticualr interest, is very true i think. its not there fault i guess im just interested in things that people dont pixel a whole lot.
Yeah but most pixel art here is either of or inspired by stuff that isn't 'my cup of tea'. That's why I find myself losing interest in pixel art and this site as a whole.
ohh, dont be like that. your awesome. if i liked doctor who id probably be worhiping your gallery its that good. but that show isnt my cup of tea thats all.
Mrmo Tarius; the best there is, was or ever will be!
carnivac was pretty cool as well; when he actually pixeled things other then doctor who.
Accidentally stumbled upon this on TIGforums the other day, looking sweeeet!
It'd be awesome if the torches (and the lit bricks) could flicker/wobble a little!
I knew the author just by the preview! Cool work as usual (i especially like the fish!)
Personal challenge for Mrmo: Create a piece that by looking at it on the front page, people won't be able to immediately tell it's yours.
@DB: I will try and tweak the colors some more, though those two darkest colors are kinda left dark on purpose :)
@snowk: I agree- I'll definitely add more details to the animation.
I think the main problem I have with this is the lack of movement in the bee. i think if something were to move up and down like that the legs would react as if they were hanging off of the bee, and not as if everything was made out of metal. Same goes for the head and abdomen. I just think the animation is very stiff, and could use some spicing up. Your tiling, backgrounds and smaller sprites are all brilliant.
Everytime I see this palette the lack of a (little) more distinct yellow hits me...the presence of a big beige bee doesn't make it better, you could say it "bugs" me ;) Also, the 2nd darkest color is much closer to the darkest color than the next brighter one. You could just tweak the bright beige and dark violett a little...no need to redraw anything. Just my 2 cents. I like the psycho-fish! :D
It's supposed to be a very very very stationary bubble. There are a few tiles like this one, with a couple of 'bubbles' just standing there :)
I'll see if I can work with the programmer to get those animated somehow :)
Great tiles! Your seperation of the foreground and background is masterful. I was curious about the stray gray pixel in the water... fish food?
Well... I believe you can easily find lots of such similarities, what with Luna being Latin for "the Moon" and all that :)
Anyways, that fugly face in the background? That's Lunarius, in his full-moon form.
Because in LoL theres a religious group called "The Lunari". They worship the moon like a god, and hate "The Solari". I think you can tell what they worship ;)
You've managed to achieve an atmosphere for this that feels really unique!
the style is so immersive...... I'm a huge fan of this kind of in game art. simply awesome
That's the current idea :) there will be different areas/levels, but the temple is the main stage for the game right now.
The face in the wall
My only complaint is the pattern on the border; Seems kind of boring/doesn't flow very well.
Liking the dragons and overall feel of this area.
Will the whole game be taking place in/around this temple?
O boy this is my dream!
