I'm going to ignore the font thing for something I personally find more pressing - the banding. When doing pixel art, try to avoid doing lines on top of each other - especially noticeable on the captain. This doesn't mimic actual shading and oft makes a piece look blurry.
Your style is also very inconsistent. You have almost black outlines around the entireof the two human characters then a grey for the whale. The whale's head/body would almost be better as as actual square - to fit the style of the two other characters.
The font just kills this piece. I think the art here is good enough to get on PJ, but your presentation is atrocious. Cut out the text bubbles, get rid of the repeating panels and if necessary, draw your own fonts. Like monotov said, the font looks too text-tool-ish. The presentation ruins the piece to the point where I think this won't even get into the gallery.

Maybe you could change the font. The actual looks too much "text tool" edited ;D
