I kinda like the first better even though the transitions in the second are much more technically detailed
Illuminati style lol...
But really Great work... ;)
I can't even fathom how many hours must have gone into this... Great work!
Man - what a well done execution of a 2D version!!!

Yes Journey is a great game, and this is a great Pixel version of it.. Amazing!!! great work!
Hey !
Waht an amazing piece !
I love this game, i love this pixel !
But, well, know that i'm not a pixel expert, however the perso-animation could be better synchronized with the camera movement.
See you !
(on Journey, i Hope :D )
Holy guacamole! Excellent work. Love the rotational effect.
Thank you friends for all your great comments!
I uploaded a third revision of my piece. I adjusted some details and improved the 360° rotation (and not removed it, I'm pretty happy with that choice). The character is now rotating. Time to sleep.
Enjoy!
Your efforts turned out really cool, but it is sad to have to spend artistic time into mechanical time... :(
@Hapiel: Sorry (for me), but it was by hand and with a calculator. :'(
Great animation! Did you move all the layers by hand or did you have some proper tweening software? If so I would like to know what, I never found a pixel friendly animator!
@schminitz: I'm ok with you. The character should turn. And you know what? Challenge accepted ;)
OH. WOW. :'''D Thats....got to be the single most impressive animation I think I've ever seen <3
My apologies, I didn't mean to imply that you had stolen this- I was just reminded of the other journey demake I saw. This is a great demake and I'd love to see it as an actual game.
@ashkin: no Vincent here, sorry. I made a quick search on the TIG forum (Vincent+journey) and found out what you were talking about (you could have given us the link...). I don't know what you tried to say... And the "but" in your sentence may show that you've got some problem with that. My piece was handmade from scratch, and if you look closely, has nothing to be compared with Vincent's demake. I've already signaled 2 ripped pixelart on PJ, so I know what it is about.
... Vincent? :/
It looks nice, but it really reminds me of a mockup posted a while ago on TIGforums by a guy who had some controversy around him (forget what it was about, ripping sprites maybe?)
The problem I have is that if the character don't turn, I dont see a rotation.
But I really love your works. (cf your website) I don't know for how many times you do pixel art, but I really think you can go far :)
Wow, this is pretty much amazing!
And I actually like the rotation effect :)
Ok everyone, thank you very much for your comments.
I agree I pushed that old piece a little to fast. I improved it a little bit (a lot in fact). You can found a link to the old one in the description.
I have no time yet but I'll certainly remove the 360° simulation and put some classic forward-parallax-scrolling.
In fact, it's a reversed parallax scrolling, to simulate a 360° rotation. But it's not as good as the one I've done with Flash. I think I'll do a normal parallax scrolling.
@Friend Thx for your comment. I know there are some issues with this piece.
-> The AA problem is due to the paralax scrolling. I can't do AA on the top of the hills because of the different background colors during the scrolling animation.
-> Regarding the colors: I know the game offers a lot of wonderfull environments and color palettes but, my reference image was this one. I use those exact colors.
By the way, I'll try to improve it and maybe simplify the scrolling part of the animation.
great animation but should make the sand colors more golden. great game :D
the animation is jaw dropping. So much so the rest pales in comparison. The hills have inconsistent and fuzzy AA, and the colors and lighting are nothing special for a game so evocative in color and lighting.
Safe travels
