Any info to share about what this was going to be? I love the look of it and the retro RPG style.
hot dang these are wonderful. i love the variety of textures, even at such a small resolution.
Sweet and tiny stuff, brings back nice memories of terranigma.
Just saw this got releaesed on dA, and I saw the awesome thumb. I think the thumb on this site does not do this awesome mock-up justice as it only shows a single panel. Iv'e always had a soft spot for giant pixel projects, and this picture is no exception. The tiling for the outside areas seems a little on the bland side, but moreso in the nostalgic sense. I think your palette was very well managed. Your designs for the characters are simple, but bursting with style, so there isn't anything that could be improved in that department. My only suggestion is that if this were ever made as a game, the text box would need to be a bit bigger in order to show more than about 4 words at a time without looking crampted. (I am aware though, that it might be possible to make two lines).
I love the way this both nods at 8-bit-era RPGs and borrows some of their aesthetic choices while not being restricted by it, and achieving an overall cleaner look than many of them. Great work, an dI really do hope that you can make this game someday.
The dungeon scene is really neat, but the grass in the middle frame appear somewhat scribbly.
And why shouldn't PJ interview mods? Who here would object to learn more about an interesting artist, whatever he is!?...
This would make a perfect iphone game. Maybe the temple and the crypt on the right needs some stone texture (cracks etc?).
Even the almighty Cure is not above critique. I've never heard of Uncharted Waters but the animal animations do need some work.
If I really had to question something, it'd be the outlines of the temple in the upper right screen.
Now go and make that game!
Holy...! I've just criticized you other post and just realized I said all that crap to cure...
Sorry man, now seeing it like it has been done on pourpose it's just amazing.
Looks great, i especially like the fighting screens
If you don't already have a programmer now and the project isn't too huge I'd like to do the programming
I can do flash programming, but i also used gamemaker for windows
If you're interested pm me
Lovely. What i like most about this kind of works is that they leave place for own imagination too )
oh, that makes sense. Well, you could always tell us something personal, how about how pixel art has affected your life. I know it has.
I was a moderator until recently, and PJ has an unspoken rule about giving mods interviews, don't wanna show favoritism. But I really don't know that I'd have anything particularly enlightening to say that hasn't been said before or squeezed into that tutorial.
If you find a programmar and get some more work done, be sure to upload this to www.kickstarter.com/. I'm sure people will donate for the production of this. :)
There's also the option of learning to program yourself, there are a lot of learner-friendly frameworks out there (flixel, gamemaker, unity, flashpunk) and it significantly decreases your chances of getting left in the lurch.
Go to TIGsource right now, I'm sure you'll find more than enough willing programmers. This is awesome.
I know right? I've got the story and mechanics all worked out, has some really original elements too. But finding a decicated programmer is even tougher than being dedicated myself.
Those items in the inventory are looking pretty spiffy.
