Yeah, like many other aspiring pixel artists, I wanted to try something different here. This isn't the best palette so I had a lot of troubles but thank God everything finally took shape acceptably. Also, thankfully, I've learned a lot of useful tricks through this piece, so it isn't so bad at least to me.
God knows how many pure working hours I spent on this, but it took me at least a week to finish. Can't wait to move on to my next pixel piece hahaha orz |
here's an edit.
main points:
the various elements are not interrelated. the sky says day, the moon says night, and appears to be radiating darkness in order to mesh with the rest of the image. the tower on the right terminates to quickly, as do the ?mountains behind it. the light grey for the sky makes sense, but having a swath of it beneath the tower just confuses your horizon line. I think the rocks could use a little more contrast to pop and look more angular. the pose is kinda awkward, I couldn't figure out how he was holding that tiny shield since it didn't seem strapped to his arm, so I must got rid of that arm and gave him a sheath (which he currently lacks). the pose of the sword-arm is awkward too, I could only interpret it as him drawing the sword. I made the warrior shorter as well, he's currently El Greco-level tall (but less proportional). also there's room for a face.
