I've done a bit of colour switching to make the ground reflect the sunset. Thanks, Faceless.
Red on the tops of the pines and red sunset brings a very nice atmosphere :)
Very good point, Faceless! I should look into that Yes, it was originally a moon/night scene.
Can't say I've ever heard of Barbarian, Carnivac. Does looks similar though
The background is excellent but kind of confusing to me at the same time. Was this always supposed to be a sunset scene? I can't help but feel the grass looks like it's being lit by the moon.
I like it more when the frog had horizontal pupils. Still good, though.
I thought I'd seen a background like it before. Many many years ago, but now I've done some checking I think my mind mixed the backdrop of this http://www.cpc-power.com/images/ecran_jeu4/40.png with the sky of another of the same game's backgrounds http://www.cpc-power.com/images/ecran_jeu5/40.png anyways again nice work on this.
Thanks guys!
It seems that each other has different areas of gripe. Some people love the frogman, others hate him. One loves the frogman but hates the hero. At least everyone likes the background. :)
This is designed as a supposed mock-up, so the characters and background are all separate entities, really. That's why I've not concerned myself greatly with the high colour count.
man that frog got me, best frog character i have seen.
Nice landscape. I don't like the character on the right at all but the frogman on the left has charm.
I've seen the progress on pixelation :lurk: this final version is totally awesome. The most impressive part to me is the landscape; the sunset and perspective are gorgeous
Wow! This is awesome! Just one thing, may the characters shadows on the ground could be more streched because the sun is low. But if you see your piece as a screen shot from an RPG, the shadows are alright.
I don't even care about the amount of colors - I think a really simplified style would destroy here a lot of the feeling anyways. It's a pity that you went with this frog and don't tried to find something more creative, but nonetheless I really like this.
"True color restricting is using the correct ammount of colors to pull off what you as an artist are trying to achieve."
Well put!
I prefer the other frog. And the blue of the staff is too overpowering
owisasjnsmnjai GGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD
Aye - you have a lot of colors, but it's not problematic at all. It looks gorgeous. I don't know what it is about the texture on the frog's skin, but it's really amazing.
Color restricting is so over-rated. True color restricting is using the correct ammount of colors to pull off what you as an artist are trying to achieve. You've done this beautifully. Truly inspiring work. And that's a lot of soft detail in such a small canvas! =]
That's quite an amount of colors there. But regardless, you did a very great job sir. Love the atmosphere.
Amazing colours! I love it
