I think you should add the BG version as a new image, cause it's that different + it's really good.
Thank you.
Well, the eyes aren't supposed to look shocked, just something like curious. But I will put in the old file, wasn't a good idea at all to rush and then changing the idea.
I think that's a good idea, I changed to much. I see now that the "converse" idea didn't work and I have to take my time and shouldn't rush anything. Thanks for your comments.
Lovely background. Now that the piece is flnished I'll have a small criticism. The eye of the dryad looks a little dull. I can understand you may have wanted it to look shocked but it doesn't mean anything now and even if it did it's a bit caricaturized which doesn't go well with the rest of the piece.
Super17, I think you should put back the old piece here, and submit now this one for people to see it. Would be pity that people don't see the new version, because it's really beautiful.
Thanks :)
And I didn't update it because I want votes for the new one, I just did it now while it's shows on the frontpage, so it's easy to see the update. Well, I might change it if more people think it's unfair.
I like it a lot the final result. It would have been one of my favorites if you had done this from the beginning, but i think is not fair you upload this before the votes is finished, because there are few people, me included, that even if we got lot of work to do, we finish it in time. And I also wanted to put another character on it but i didn't have time to do it.
Anyway i want to congratulate you for this, now i can understand much better the concept. The background is colorful and lot of details in there.
I hope to see more things like this in another challenge
Emphasis on the maybe, since people obviously can't agree wether to change the idea or keep it :p
I am not agree with your point, DragonMarx. I forced myself to find an interpretation because I didn't understand what it means. I even talk with somebody to find out where is the funny censure, and we start to shoot a forced theories about it. Our theory, watching the hair of this girl, and looking at the leaf left on the sculpture... We think bad because that's the only one funny thing we imagined.
As a pixel art, it's beautiful, good shading, even if is not finished yet. But as an idea, i did not like it and i didn't understand it before to have an explanation.
I love so much your style. Your shadows: fantastic! ;)
Maybe it's a really good that people have so many different interpretations though :0
I interpreted it as: dryads have leaves for pubes, so Davo's basically uncovered as far as she's concerned.
I like your original concept. No need to cater to the ignorant masses.
Haha, I think that the sketch has a clearer meaning :)
Oh, looks like none got it like it was intended to be interpretated. (Is this a good or bad sign, that everybody sees something different? I'm a bit affraid of that it is for a weekly)
So my idea was the following: An amusing way of censoring could be leafs hiding the mature parts. But this is pretty common for drayds. So I thought it would be funny if a drayd is dressed like a human, a common way to "censor" but unnatural for her. To make this more clear, I put they david in, a popular example where the mature part is tend to be cenored with a leaf (at least I guessed so). In the end, she is wondering about the leaf, but she actually shouldn't.
Well, sounds a bit complex, and maybe I missed something that might help it. Or it's just not a good idea
But I like the Idea of painted clothes, I just don't know why she should do that
The way I got it was that her clothes was painted on xD
My interpretation on this piece is that... you have to think "bad" about why the leafs are in there.
Awesome construction.
I don't necessarily understand it, though. The David is the one with the almost-nudity so what is with the girl and why is the David in the background?
Can this be my one and only vote for the weekly comp? :3
Liking those orange and tan colors. The highlights could have been a little bit brighter, and I'm not too sure I am fond of the second lightsource, but it is pretty good.
I really like both elements of this piece, but I don't get what's the relation/connection between them.
It might just be me, but they feel like elements of two separate pieces.
I just don't get it.
