one little nitpick is that the treetops seem to have a diffferent texturing style to them than everything else. They could probably use a treatment similar to that of the bushes in the water. And maybe to be pushed back a bit, since right now they have almost equal precedence to the giant lillypad in the water.
Nothing too major, but after a quick look it was a noticeable inconsistency, so it's worth considering.
i, too, saw secret of evermore in this. Very nice work :)
I never officially played SoE but I know of it and respect it. It was one of the refs they gave me so I'm glad this is somewhat evocative of that.
I love the slug/catapillar sprite. This is beautiful mockup.
You're right, the lily pad is interactable and should have stronger priority than the tree. I kind of cheated on the tree lightening up the canopy in PS to keep the layers readable (before it was similar in color to the grass and blended in a bit, a good testament to the fine line in balancing visual elements.)
As to the texturing, tbh I was reffing DE pretty hard from his work in Americana Dawn. I don't think it stands out too much and is a fun style to mess with while not having to render each leave individually.
