I kind of agree with Semont, you could reduce your color count if you have redundant colors, it's kind of an essential aspect of pixel art.
Also, you can mention that you're not looking for criticism in the description of your piece, otherwise people feel like they're encouraged to provide some feedback.Otherwise, people will probably mention that you have redundant colors.
The reason why he's being radical about it is because selecting the right palette is part of doing pixel art. If you were using the gradiant tool for pixel art, people would be ''radical'' about it because it's beside the point.
I hope this makes it easier to understand Semont's reaction.
Thanks, but I don't need tutorials, I just do this for fun if you like good and if not, too, sorry if I sound 'harsh'...
And it's obvious that not everyone has the same style to make pixel art, all have their tricks and their manners, that's what I say, and maybe I chose the wrong page for uploading this but it was just, as I say in the description, to have an avatar. And sorry, I know you come with the best intentions in the world, but I don't understand why be so radical with something simple.
I don't mean to sound harsh or anything, it's just that most people who do what they think is pixel art isn't pixel art at all (you're looking at most people on places like deviant art and tumblr).
Here are two very good tutorials; they're universally agreed to be some of the best for pixelart.
Sorry, I may have sounded quite like a jerk but I just really hate it in art when people try to justify ignorance by saying things like it's part of their style and such.
Well, I'll consider in a next pixel art avoid overloading of colors. Thank you. ;)
I don't think you understand. You have a lot of redundant colours that could easily be mistaken for one another since the eye cannot tell them apart. It's not a matter of style or 'unique touch', it's a matter of execution.
I don't know, I like it, also, the burden of colors gives a unique touch, for don't mention that is my overall style when I make pixel art, but thanks for the observation, is really appreciated.
I feel like you could really lower the color count, it looks like you have a lot of unnessesary colors.
Well, maybe I do, I'll see... And not, people are free to express their opinion, but when that people become radical, is another issue.
Otherwise, I don't use the gradient tool for do this, in fact, I just used colors in different shades, resulting in this. And yes, thanks, I better understand the point of Semont.
