Oh dios! Me gusta mucho! es su mejor trabajo!

Carnivac (Level 8 Behemoth) @ 1/16/2014 02:22

'try reading?'  How the hell did I notice other people going on about 'why pixel art?' if I hadn't read it?  Don't be an idiot... And I didn't literally mean 'wah wah wah'.  Christ...  It was a statement referring to the fact this tedious subject comes up time and time again from people who really should know better.  Simply put:  It was done in pixel art because that's what the artist chose or is just more confident in using.  There's no need to even question them about it.

_Connor (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 1/16/2014 02:15

"nobody is going "wah wah wah". Merely stating our opinions.  Try reading.

Elk (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 1/16/2014 00:52

why pixelart? because we can

great work :)

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) @ 1/15/2014 19:53

I agree. Its great in pixels and probably better than if another medium was used. Zooming on this is a pleasure.

Carnivac (Level 8 Behemoth) @ 1/15/2014 11:29

Good stuff and skanky fudgebuckets to those going 'why pixel art? wah wah wah'.   Folks can do whatever they want in any medium they so choose.  There's no rules about it.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) @ 1/13/2014 18:12

thats my boy.

now drop and give me 20.

JerryPie (Level 11 Big Foot) @ 1/13/2014 08:12

whatever you say Metaru :)

7even (Level 9 T-rex) @ 1/13/2014 07:17

Although the pixel art skill is impressive, the same result could be achieved by many other techniques. The fact it could be mistaken as NPA just corroborates. I believe that's the point Delicious first mentioned.

I know there a lot more like this on PJ, nothing wring with that, I just think it's "less pixel art" than other pieces (not saying it's worse, though).

adamSrgnt (Level 4 Lieutenant) @ 1/12/2014 22:08

Fantastic dithering.  Some of the best I've seen.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) @ 1/12/2014 19:52

you and that other guy missed the whole point for about four or five light years.

Hiuru (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 1/12/2014 18:18

I agree with FlyGuy, it should be an artist's own decision of what medium to use...and there shouldnt be a need to have a legit reason behind that. So what if it could have been "easier" using other methods? The guy likes pixelart and he wanted to do what he wanted to do!

JerryPie (Level 11 Big Foot) @ 1/12/2014 16:06

It's sad how much negative attention this is getting because there is a lot of dither. If you ask me, pixel art is really the only medium that embraces dithering. -- I think it's really the graceful transition to the background and extremely soft edges that are causing people to look twice at this piece..(not the dithering)

And no one makes these kind of comments on something heavily dithered like this --

Or with no use of dithering at all like this -

I would ask SHANNON why she chose to pixel this instead of just using brush tools in photoshop, before I would ask MIERDINSKY the same question on this piece. But in the end, is that our job to ask why someone didn't use another tool to create their art?

Nevercreature (Level 9 Whale Shark) @ 1/12/2014 03:37

Es tan desconcertante que da miedo. 8/8

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) @ 1/11/2014 21:12

wich is exactly my thoughs. sure, the piece looks top notch and allthat stuff, but its really a weird way to achieve "realism", both in the absurd amount of dithering and the palette used as well.

specially with that sign on the side of the car being a huge eyesore. compared to the armony in the rest of the piece, makes it look like a last minute addition to something that was already prerendered.

_Connor (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 1/11/2014 17:45

It isn't.  Imo, pixel art is used to convey a particular style, and making large pieces with so much dithering you can barely tell the different from some another medium defeats the purpose. I've seen custom filters and scripts in photoshop that achieve looks very near this. Not that i care whether pieces get uploaded here. The more art the merrier, but i understand why some would question the piece.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) @ 1/11/2014 17:03

how is raising a concern about the nature of the piece being a "hater".

iMoose (Level 6 SWAT) @ 1/11/2014 13:33

I see what Mathias and Delicious are getting at, but I think this piece has a certain gritty quality to it as well as its sketchiness which is really aided by the pixel art medium. I personally think this is a great application of pixel art. Not only inventive, but effective.

showtime (Level 6 Made) @ 1/10/2014 20:18

Don't listen to the haters, this is a badass piece and I think it's  crazy-cool to do this sort of thing with pixel art. I love seeing dithering used this way! And while agree with CELS that the far legs look a little bit too far away, I absolutely love the textures you are using to fill them in.

Delicious (Level 9 Boss) @ 1/10/2014 16:08

Looks great, but I must agree with Mathias - this could've been accomplished much faster in a different medium with the same result. Pixel art is used more so for precision, whilst your piece seems to purposely have a rough look with the lines.

MIERDINSKY (Level 8 Partner) @ 1/10/2014 07:55

Mathias (Level 6 Yonkyu) @ 1/9/2014 18:43

So . . . why pixel art?

Mandrill (Level 9 T-rex) @ 1/9/2014 13:16

Now THAT is something else... awesome!

JerryPie (Level 11 Big Foot) @ 1/9/2014 12:53

Yay..pixel "ART"!

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) @ 1/9/2014 12:04

Your best eva!

|||| (Level 8 Venus fly trap) @ 1/9/2014 11:59

I've always been a fan of your dithering tech.. this is even more advanced. i like the texture a lot!

MIERDINSKY (Level 8 Partner) @ 1/9/2014 09:11

Muchas Gracias Hiru. Lo dejé de 9.42 kb

Hiuru (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 1/9/2014 08:51

Hiuru (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 1/8/2014 21:33

At first i thought this was NPA, because it seemed blurry at first sight, but that's just the effect your pixeling style gave it which fooled my eyes lol The design is awesome and pixeling is great too.

You have improved a lot, imo!

CELS (Level 7 Cuttlefish) @ 1/8/2014 21:03

Hah, very nice! The legs on the opposite side seem a bit too distant though. Especially since we essentially have a side view of the car.
