Thanks for all the nice comments. I enjoyed pixeling this piece a lot.
CELS: Nah, just a Finnish dude with a regular finnish face.
You know, I've come across this piece a couple of times now while browsing the gallery. And honestly, I'm annoyed with myself for not commenting on this before. This is really fantastic work. Your palette is simply incredible. That stark contrast with the lighting and shadow on his body is just..!
He's like a combination of Kratos and Dante. Very yummy.
That's very well done. I like the subtle greens, a Frazetta staple.
Well, now I'm curious. Are you a girl or just a dude with feminine facial features?
Because if you're a girl who just drew an Arnold Schwarzenegger Conan-clone based on her own face, I think... you may be the first in history.
The reason why it looks slightly feminine may be because the face and hair part is based on o photo of me. ;)
The way I did this is I had photos taken of me under a bright light to get a suitable Frazetta -like lighting. I also attached some weights to s tick so I could pose with a suitably heavy prop axe. Then I used various other photo references (mainly Arnold) for the rest of the body, since I'm far from my comfort zone when drawing muscular dudes.
There's something about the face that looks slightly feminine to me. It may be a combination of several almost insignificant things. The nose looks a slightly small and pointy, the lips look slightly pouty, the cheekbones are slightly pronounced... at least in my eyes. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks so.
In every other way, this looks superb.
Well... hello there handsome
Very appealing colors (among other things)
Actually the GODS axe barbarian was the inspiration behind this.
Someone should do a Gods follow up and use this as title pic. Super nice work!
AWW YEAH THE FULL VERSION IS EVEN BETTER /TOUCHES MUSCLES ♥♥♥
This very nice! The stark lighting is impactful and I love the palette and the rendering of the face. ♥ I'm not sure on some of the dithering, though. I think the piece doesn't really need it, but that might just be my opinion. :p
I find the scars and veins really really amazing. Awesome!
