I know there are a lot of things that can be much better, and I also know that I always use the same excuses when I upload something about Octopus City Blues. But the truth is always the same thing: time/budget.

We calculate an estimation of 10 hours to finish this, and I did inside the estimation.

You can watch the WIP over here.

Thank you very much for your support and patience :)

PD= Since I did this animated sequence, that beetles are chasing me :(

(it's a true and weird story)

This looks amazing!! I love it! Never knew that's all you had to do to animate a face!

snowk (Level 7 Mass Murderer) @ 6/15/2014 21:34

reminds me a lot of frankiesmileshow., which is a very good thing. Wonderful, old school creepy atmosphere.

Superb work, Marina.

Looks like something straight out of a 90s text adventure.  Liking it a lot!

When you want to do a very simple animation and you want to do something as fast as possible without losing a minimal of quality, the best way to me is drawing the scenes of the sequence with the details, and after that, using the Graphics gale tools that allow me to work really quick. Cutting one part, pasting it in another place and then fix the pixels for it not to look so ugly. I think that if i want to have a better result, I must take longer and maybe your method would be better to have a high quality work done. But maybe the time that I would take for that can multiply x5

:P Nice to read your thoughts, It's always interesting to share diferent points of view in a work method.

Thank you very much! and yes, he's really bad

The colors are saturated, but we choose those because we wanted the game to look like the old computer games, and also because my screen it's very bad.

All the graphics for the demo are done since 2-3 weeks ago. Now I'm working in the full game graphics while the CEO are working in the last details for the demo. So, there are really less time left to be released :)

Hahaha, thank you very much. I'm glad that you like it. I tried to make him very expresive in a very simple animation.

About the moskitos, they normally bite me at summer, but beetles... I never got one in my head, and since I did this, I see them everywhere, out of my home too :(

I'm not afraid of them, but they are a bit disgusting haha

dyluck (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 6/13/2014 13:59

Amazing...very interesting and original. I love the concept, the creepiness, the effective animation, the pleasently unpleasant palette...It's inspiring.

ps: I had the same feeling when I did some flash mosquitoes long ago, and looks like they'll never forgive me... well, at least beetles bon't bite!

That's not weird at all, you just need a shower :)

Great job! I would never have guessed your work method, I thought you'd want to a rough version of each frame and then add details to each of them as time permits. I was very surprised to see you go the the opposite route.

What's interesting to me is that the dithering is a bit disturbing on a moving object (the shoe, seen from above) because the dithering patterns become noise when you render the light differently in each frame. Does that make sense? I guess one way around that would be to do the dithering via several layers of uniform patterns, and them simply obscure different parts of the different layers, so that you never end up altering the dithering 'grid' and creating additional noise, if that makes sense. Or just do it like this.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm just thinking out loud on the internet.
