@big brother: Yes, now I can notice all what you're saying. I think that a lot of perspective and size issues are due to the tile or grid size, because I wanted everything to fit on 16x16 and its multiple. Thanks for the tips!
@Imagician: That's right, the tavern is less contrasted, and it's because the tavern tileset was done separately from the characters set and I did not review the graphics before making this mockup... No time to review discarded stuff!
great work :) only thing that bothers me is that most character have quite some more saturation in general and especially in the dark tones than the "furniture" has. it makes them feel a bit kind of unmatching to me, instead of making them stand out, if this was the intention.
Great details and atmosphere. The wooden railing seems a bit high, reaching on the level of their shoulders at least. (Judging from the height of the barmaid who's the only character standing.)
Lo entiendo, y es una lástima. Este tipo de proyectos pueden llevar años de desarrollo cuando sólo trabajan 1-2-3 personas. De todos modos hiciste un trabajo excelente, y a mí me ha encantado
I found the eggplants, hehe...
Great stuff here as usual.
Word, this is amazing :D Reminds me of Chrono Trigger in its style.
Yeah, it's really detailed - very nicely done! I agree with Drazelic about the walls; I think more dark colors would probably have helped out. Anyway, nice work!
Ah, who can find the eggplants?
@Drazelic: Yes, you're right on that, I think it's because stuff in the walls need to be stretched to have more perspective, and also darker lighting would help. The room has been done via tileset, by the way.
@Mandrill: Shadowed eyes on male characters express rudeness, or something like that, like in Cromartie High, hehe...
Thanks everyone for the comments!
A brilliant scene with superb pixeling and story telling. I really love the wood texture and ambient occlusion (!).
The only thing which looks a bit strange to me is that all the male characters have just shadows instead of eyeballs, however I know it is pretty hard to do manly eyes properly with just 6 pixels.
Excellent piece!
It'd be nicer if it didn't feel so flat. The walls don't give me a sense of... verticality? Maybe making them significantly darker than the floor rather than about equal in contrast would have helped.
The detailing, though, is superb as usual!
Thanks everyone for the comments!
@CELS: I'm sure you're right! XD I didn't use any references for this, it's done via imagination exclusively. It's mainly the result of 16 bits RPG's and Asterix comics influences. Also, the game mixed several mythologies, it was a bit weird to be honest. You can title this work "Tavern with some Vikings and fantasy elements" instead, hehe..
this looks so cool! it's really a shame that it won't make into a game :/
Es una auténtica pasada, y es una lástima que al final no los uséis porque están excelentes y molaría ver un RPG con esos gráficos
While maybe not entirely historically accurate, this is pretty much perfect in every other way, as far as I can tell :) Fave'd.
EDIT: Spoke too soon. The fireplace looks more like a lavalamp than a fire, in my eyes.
Beautiful, I really like the little details like the veg boxes.
just wow
