This is a stage for Life of Pixel, for the Amiga system!

We've just about wrapped up development on the game, and we're trying to get the game greenlit, so I figured I'd post some of the work I did on the game. If anyone can help vote for the game, we'd really apperciate it!

Life of Pixel is about a little green pixel who adventures through more than a dozen retro machines. Each machine uses a different graphical style and has 8 stages based off of popular games for that machine.

This stage design is actually using the tileset that I created years ago for this project that went no where! I expanded on the tiles a bit, creating ramps, a bridge, some ruins and an animated waterfall (amoung other tiles). I tried to put things in this mock up that weren't used too much in the other.

As a side note, most of the enemies for that other game found their way into this one! Many of them got new animations and updates as well. I was pretty happy to see that work from a project that really sucked found it's way into a project that I really enjoyed. :)

Agree with Zizka, jaw-dropping effect on everything but the water but like the top and bottom of the water

Thanks for the kind words everyone. :)

adamSrgnt: Yes, this uses a lot of the same tiles as that piece does, but there's a bit of a story behind that of course. If you read the descriptions of each piece, that should clear it up. I did try to make sure that when I posted this, it wouldn't use too many of the same tiles that the other one uses.

AirStyle: That's a fair point to make. Though, the whole thing is a big fantasy world, so maybe it's a "magic" tree or something. It's possible that it would feel a little less "off" if you play the stage in the game though, since it's laid out with an idea of visual progression in mind.

Zizka and Friend: Yeah, the preview probably is a little misleading, haha. But I also thought the waterfall animation was the most substantial part of the new tile work for the stage. They way they're used in the actual stage is really fun and I would recomend trying to play through that stage if you guys get a chance to download the game. :)

Talk about a misleading preview. Interestingly, the water part is what I like the least.

The background looks epic though! Right on!

This looks great! I love it! However, somehow I feel like the tree underneath the two slabs of stone platforms doesn't seem natural. It looks like a tree grew out of stone, and into more stone. I don't want to rock a boat that's already set sail, but I'm just seems weird to me. Other than that, though, it looks great! I'll be looking for you on Steam!

Same tiles as

Friend (Level 3 Hatchikyu) @ 8/1/2014 17:27

actual piece

Really nice work!

Adcrusher (Level 6 Major) @ 8/1/2014 13:33

Awesome! The background really makes this piece, but tiles are great too.

Geoglatico (Level 6 SWAT) @ 8/1/2014 12:03

Zarto (Level 1 Seaman) @ 8/1/2014 11:37

Awesome! Love the background and the water animation!
