I like it. Stylish and with great sense of humor.
P.S. Did someone mention Optimus Prime on the screenshot?
I saw it in the preview. Under the yellow under the pig's right arm, there a 2 pixels of different colors that keeps appearing and disappearing. I don't know if that was intended?
By the way it's cool. It makes me think of the enemies in Mother 3.
Wow these are fantastic! The only thing that caught my eye was the wire / cable on the bottom piece. I feel like the entire cable would be moving more, not just the small section at the end (maybe have it "push back" a bit when the jaw is closer to it.). Love the clean silhouettes and the animation, lots of attention to detail!
Flying pigs? What has the world come to? Now those are some neat looking flying machines, kudos.
Hi Hawk. Thanks, I'm happy that you like the sprites. I'm putting a lot of love into them.
I'll take it as a complement that the screenshot reminds you so much of STF. It's an awesome game and a great modern pixel art style in my opinion. It's certainly not a deliberate copy, but I'm sure on some level I'm quite inspired by its art style.
However, the gameplay of Aporkalypse Now will be nothing like STF. It'll be a very touch screen based game with (what we consider to be) a unique take on a popular play genre. We're actually hoping to bring something new to the table. A very twitch based play experience that works within the limitations of the interface. We don't want to reveal too much right now as it is still in the early stages of development, but I think it will please a lot of gamers.
I peronally don't think a run and gun game like STF (with or without the rewind mechanic) could work well on a touch screen phone. Generally run and gun games lose something with the lack of tactile feedback. The most successful attempt at it that I've seen is Apocalpyse Max on iPhone & iPad. It's actually worth checking out if you haven't already.
Cheers!
Fantastic characters and great style/animation........My only concern is that the screenshot looks incredibly similar to 'Super Time Force'.
I hope that the game isn't just a clone of that game, as although STF is awesome it would be a pity for these sprites to be wasted on a clone game as they clearly have enough uniqueness to warrant there own, original game.
Please tell me that the game will be something as original and delightful as these pixels truly are!!
Thanks everyone for the kind comments and useful feedback!
I can't really say too much about the game play just yet since we're quite early in development, but it's safe to say there will be a lot of running and gunning :)
Great style! Screenshot looks rather great, I definitely would give this a shot.
I love the way they flap in the wind. Consider adding more difference between your hues as you shade, like shading the yellow into orange or brown.
dem snouts, man, dem snouts.
