Love the pose and design, really sweet. Voting for this!
Really digging the update, looks much more refined now.
Thanks mursku! I'll probably tweak more things next week after voting.
man thats a cool design! Thought the anatomy needs a bit work (like the chest and stomach area, also i would think more light would be hitting the triceps in this picture). But the face is just awesome! I especially like the striped shading on the tongue, and the tentacles look super cool!
This is frikkin' terrifying. And it makes the picture for me
Thanks for the critique Mandrill! I played a little with the saturation and brightness/shadows but I still want the skin to look more on the matte side due to all the battling wearing down any shine. I do think I'll experiment more on aggressive mid ramp shifting in future pieces. I tend to just do a more modest arc ramp.
Thanks for the compliments Kaishido, Daimoth, CraftyPixel, Mandrill!
A very nice piece! Quite solid anatomy, a refreshing design and a cool looking aggressive pose. It surely has my vote.
Besides from what Dawnbringer pointed out I think that the palette could be improved. Darker shadows and vivid colours would really help to make it pop a bit more in my opinion, especially the blues!
I played around in PS and changed the colour values. Hope you don't mind
I was going to make something similar; a grotesque bipedal shark with a late 90's fighting game look, but this one looks good enough that I don't feel the need to. Great work!
Yeah, it's ok to tweak a piece until the voting starts.
Thanks for the critique DawnBringer! Is it okay if I do some edits before the competition starts?
Cool creature. There's plenty of banding, mostly in the "jarms". There's nice outer selective outlining but the inner linework is pretty harsh (esp. the teeth). The brown central part look empty and unfinished,
This was mainly inspired by Sharktopus, but instead of suction pads I just put in teeth. I do like Blade 2 though. Have you been watching the Strain? It's by Del Toro and it's like Blade 2 but with no Blade.
The dark vertical line of pixels are supposed to be the demarcation of the abdominals and the obliques.
Watch Blade2 much :p Great anthropomorphic shark! The line of vertical line of dark pixels mid-torso bothers me though, are they intentional?
