I dont agree with the legs. The backleg is better. Other than that i like it!
the boots on the right variant read a lot more visually clearly due to the increased contrast. the 'glowing eye' doesn't read, so i'd recommend changing the facial area entirely and either adding the indication of a mouth with the eyes obscured entirely(spooky) or putting the whole face even more in shadow. i think maybe the eye doesn't read as an eye because it appears too low on the face.
i really dig the dusty red highlight colour on the cloak, but i feel like you could bump the saturation of the shadow colour up a bit and it might seem less visually muddy.
good overall!! keep it up!
I think the face is fine the way it is apart from the white pixel, its just TOO bright IMO. Doesn't really stand out to me as being a glowing eye or anything.
Thanks so much for the crits! The face was meant to be obscured and dark with the vague impression of a glowing eye under the hood watching you, I don't know if it worked or not
The orange cloak highlight around the shoulder/neck area is a little large/blobby on the left character. I think you should reduce it by using more of that grey/maroon. Also the "face" is hard to read (if it's even supposed to be a face) and that white pixel really stands out. The right character is better with the exception of the left boot which has too bright of a highlight color, in my opinion. I also like the color of his undershirt. That blue is a nice contrast.
You can tell a lot of work went into this. And I appreciate that, and I also appreciate the colors you used :) However, i personally found it to sound like something I call RPG sprite filler. Where there's no catchy design used and its simply thrown in to set a mood. And thats all fine, but I have to wonder why someone would make an original piece and not come up with the the most striking character design they could imagine.
