this mockup was done just for fun. i wanted to know if it is possible to reduce the visual elements of the plants vs zombies game for the c64.
speaking of technical details this one is mixed. the background and plants are charmode, the zombies are sprites - one for head, one for body each.
restrictions for charmode:
256 characters maximum (170 characters are used here), screen size is 40x25 characters
each character can be selected in hires 8x8px 2 colors, or multicolor 4x8px 4colors doublepixel.
color setting is one fix background and two additional fix multicolor,
one color can be freely chosen for each char but only from the first 8 of the palette.
restrictions for sprites (multicolor here):
resolution is 12x21px for each object, doublepixel.
4 colors - background is transparent, 2 fixed colors for all objects and one free to choose from the whole palette each object
