I like this ball/portal effect - neat idea, especially spruce disortion on first plane strengthens effect
Air perspective in landscape always works well too
Forest in snow is one of my favourite motives for ilustration - so instant fav. :)
This figure however looks little out of place and stiff – and shape of glass ball (top part) is not refined enough imho
I personally think brighter colours would feel wrong and lose the feel of a snowy day. Cloudy skies tend to lead to grey days.
This has a great winter spirit and AA looks fine to me, nothing to complain about.
The only thing I don't like is missing vibrancy. I think that it looks a bit washed out.
A superb entry nonetheless. :)
Wisely selected colors for the base. Round cut just in the clothes stripe.
This doesn't break the rules, actually! As if you study it closer, each section has different color sets, but with the wonderful help of AA (greatly portrayed in this piece, actually.), the transition is seamless and gorgeous.
Glad to see my attempt at hiding the boundary was successful xP That rule was the most fun part of the challenge for me.
Well the bottom section uses a slightly darker pallete, so as far as I can see everything is alright.
I think it's a very good interpretation of the challenge and the snow globe theme.
"Each of these two sections must use a different set of colours." :/
Thanks! Snowy boreal forests are a favourite of mine too, I hope to make them prominent in a future game of mine.
The shape of the ball was provided by the template for the weekly challenge, so there's nothing I could really do about that. I thought about AAing it, but since the background had to be transparent, the AA would've looked bad somewhere or other.
The figure does look stiff >< I was too concerned with using it to hide the boundary between the top and bottom and with having both arms distinct and didn't consider how awful that pose is, even though I had time.
