This palette is spunky, I like it! Good job using it well!
I see a young Robert de Niro but whatever... both concept and execution of this piece are great!
@ BathMaster_2000
I feel honoured! Thanks a ton. :)
@ felch
Thanks a lot, man!
I always try to do something new from time to time. ;)
A real departure from your usual style, but still maintaining your usual quality, good work.
Haha, awesome you dig it, chap!
Happy new year to you too. :)
Daaamn mate! That face looks really great, love the abstract shapes and the palette is really interesting :)
Happy new year man
PEACE!
Thanks a bunch, Bobston!
Highly saturated colours work very well against black
Pretty much the same colours we had to use in school, do you remember those?
'Malkasten Farben'
Very nice! Interesting how the almost black harmonises the other colors
Thank you very much, CELS!
The basic shape of every blob is, of course, determined by the face, but the sides that go into the dark are just randomly painted. I pretty much went wild with my mouse and tried to AA it as best as I could.
I originally intented to add silhouettes but realised pretty quickly that this would have been too distracting.
To me it looks more like Clive Owen :)
Great stuff, Mandrill. Gonna fave this just for a lesson on how to draw amazing photorealistic eyes and mouth at a tiny scale. Just fabulous. My only personal dislike is the shape of the three colour "blobs", because I feel like they're rendered in a very random way. They don't look like paint on the ground, or broken glass or ripped paper or anything like that. But maybe you made it unnatural like that on purpose, because you're so artsy, who knows :)
I see Nicholas Cage
Also you made great use of the palette imo.
heh, I meant the face itself looked a bit like Dali.
the art is good too
@ MasterSky
Thank you very much!
The carmine is actually darker than the red, ideal for AA.
Are you refering to the flesh tint? I didn't use that with the red. :)
@ Muffin
Woha, that is an incredible compliment, thanks a ton! :)
the face is actually very well done! but the AA on the red splatter at the bottom doesnt really work because it's a bit lighter than the red.
considering the palette you did a great job haha!
Thanks a lot! :)
