Cool. :3 I really like the animation, it's so smooth! I wonder how long did it take you to make this...
I'm quite amazed. It's hard to fathom doing something like this pixel by pixel
Some wierd and wonderful comments went on here, 7even's clearly skilled enough to know how much weight to read them with. I saw the preview and thought this would be someones first pixel art, liking the pastel color choice - boy was I pleasently suprised. Beautiful detail and fluidity, at such a small size too! A really awesome piece, jumping over the lightsaber swinging under Blue was especially smooth. Skills <3
briliant! please post more like this. it's so fun to watch this and i think it's not an easy thing to animate something like this. what programm you used?
there aren't many sprite animations that are minute long my friend.
It's not the best strategy to make a spritesheet for a 30-second animation. To avoid clutter, I make a picture, save as a .PNG, alter it, save it, etc. I don't hold on to one picture, and if it makes my work just a little sloppier I don't mind. To make a spritesheet would be to spend 2 hours on something unneccesary.
Wasn't offending, I was simply stating that some people can see everything in nothing.
The kind of person who can look at a pebble, and think, "What a marvel of nature!". Just because work went into something doesn't mean it's a masterpiece. I'm not saying this is bad, just underrated. It loops poorly, it's redundant, but it's not bad, and at the same time it's not good...
I don't see any reasons for being sarcastic unless you totally felt offended before. If so, sorry, I was not defying your sense of knowledge... But I believe such comment can't hit someone this way.
All I have to say is... Read 10 messages below this one. Shrub has got the same opinion as you, and I think my answer for him pretty much fits your point. Just avoidind to be redundant ;)
In any case, even if I think your comment was not constructive at all, I'm not trying to convince you, I'm just explaining myself.
Omg, I totally agree.
It's two stick figures, and only 5 colors are used throughout the animation. I really see the "quality"...
It's good... but I don't understand how this got so high in the rankings. It's less than a minute long, probably less than 200 frames...
Great job, congratulations. I like the "More with Less" style.
I'm really not sure if I have to answer it since I can't find any constructive criticism on your comment, but I believe that there are some wrong thought you had about the others' opinion.
First of all, as long as I know, there are plenty of people here on PJ that are not experienced enough to rate some works, which turns them to choose their 'favorite' just by their likeness. That's not wrong, it's unavoidable in a community this big. However, I also believe these people, specifically here on PJ, have common sense.
About the animation, it's defintely short, but look again. In a hypothetical situation, you make a spritesheet for the entire animation. You would see how complex it is, pratically one different pose by frame, I can tell this. I could use the same sprites just to make it longer. Would it make it better? Add, like, three more backflips with four more of every move they make? It's just like making an army in pixel-art: copying and pasting over and over. If that's your concept of a good work, I'll have to bare with it =/
About WaterCloset's opinion, it's totally OK, he's not out of his mind. See, the animation is short, but it undeniably has a fast pace. Fast pace scenes usually tickle one's feelings, don't you think? Other than that, it's still his opinion, and it's not just a baseless opinion.
Dinky Little Stickman animations are not hard to make, I have to agree. One can easily open Newgrounds and see that it's true. But you can count on your hands fingers, based on when they were made, the ones that are really good. You can see that the rest are jaggy and uncreative animations. Also, I strongly believe that you know the difference between the hard work you have in Pixel Art and the one in Vector Art/Illustration in Flash. IMO, Xiao Xiao's animations are the best. But hey, he made them on Flash, which is fairly easier to make frames for the character's movements. Here, I had to place every pixel of the stickmen in the right place, worrying to not make them look stiffy. That creates quite a gap between the techniques.
I hope that's enough to clear your mind about my work and its repercussion. I just don't want to start another discussion based on someone's individual opinion ;)
I don't think that enough people on here know enough about animation to crit stuf like this. It's definitely overrated. The animation is farly fluid, but come on, it's short, and they're tiny stickmen. And WaterCloset, you must be out of your mind!
"Love the emotion" Emotion? EMOTION? It's a little "fight". Between two stickmen. Everybody is so stunned by this, but dinky little stickmen fights really aren't that hard to make.
simple but awesome!
