Quite frankly, even if you were to make the effect more authentic it'd easily harm the readability and look of the sprites of this size without adding much, depending on shapes and colors used. If the resolution was higher it'd be far more doable I'm sure.

@MrFariator: Yeah exactly... also that kind of lines tend to create banding, but in a way colour fringe is basically another way of getting banding in photography. As I said, not happy but I can live with that.

A lovely demake all around. I suppose the problem with the red/blue effect is that it's basically only an external outline, and doesn't "bleed" into the characters themselves. However, I think it gets the idea across.

Fantastic. The blue/red highlight is the best part!
