I dont get it about talking of the style, its awesome
I do agree with Solrac! Maybe the face could use a little more work, but I do like the scene pretty much. Got my vote :)
Nice. Looks pretty much finished to me, except perhaps for the giraffe's face.
I have the same feeling on refining philippe, i like the rough stuff a lot more than super refined, it lets your imagination fill in the details. Also, nice peice!
Lovely clusters and colours, a really, really strong entry; got my vote!
Hey Philippe... First off welcome back.
I know and understand how you like unpolished, I think it triggers your imagination better- yet, I think this piece is very much refined, and is my favorite entry to the weekly.
Hope you do more!
I like unpolished stuff, I like to see the artist's hand on the work, I like to see unrefined and strong contrast. Thats why I never "finish" my work, because I like what I see, for me it's done... For me it has more expression then soft refined lines.
For me this is art and this is great, I like to see the wacky lines and funky shapes, thats what I like to see.
I'm sorry. What you've done doesn't seem to read as a style to me.
When I look at Graindolium's stuff, I see see his style very easily. He doesn't really create a scene, or anything even recognizable, for that matter, but you can see and recognize that whatever's he's done, that's a style, and his pieces appear complete.
Those two conventions you mentioned have a tendency to contradict each other, and in combination gives off a feel of incompleteness. Plus if you're creating scratches, you're inadvertantly creating texture. However, I may be misunderstanding you on your style. Please explain, if you would.
Nevertheless, the last I would want any artist to ever do, is compromise their own style in order to please the masses. New stuff wouldn't be seen if that was the case.
I prefer shapes rather then textures, scratches rather then soft lines, my style tho, not incorrect or correct way of pixelling.
Edit: For me this is better then the one I posted.
All your stuff is nice, but I really wish you'd take the time to refine your pieces. I'd rate your stuff twice as high if you would.
Nice palette =)
