Yeah I mostly tend for multiple of 2 when I choose the canvas size, and didn't realize it wasn't centered really well :/

If you do think a BG is needed or a creative choice, which is cool, then you really should take the 'canvas' into account so that your presentation is also planned, thoughtout and creative.
For example, even number of px around the art, 3 equal sides and bottom longer (poster), etc.
when you have a BG and every side has a different size of white space then its just being lazy or not caring for details as all artists should.
How long it takes to make something, what app, or w/e is no excuse to care for what you make...just sayin'
If the canvas was always meant to be 64x64 then the art should have been planned in the space in reverse.

Stop making excuses. get giffy (in FAQ page) or use an online utility. Links section is there for you :)
