The reason the leg looks fine in the ref but not in your piece is because of how you drew and shaded the pants. The hem-line on them is flat rather than curving around, making it look like the leg is at a different angle than it is, and the shading around the knee suggests that the knee is facing in a different direction than it is.
Also, when working with refs/scenes with odd angles like this, where the camera is very close to the subject, it usually helps to include some background objects in the same perspective to show that it's just how the scene and camera are. With nothing else to show the perspective, it looks unnatural because people aren't used to seeing other people with that kind of camera-distortion except as part of photos where the environment provides a hint.
Yes, there is a ref. I will be posting that up very soon!
I was worried about the preview image when I first saw it. I honestly didn't knew if it was acceptable or not. Might have missed some stuff when I read the rules. I'll be sure to re-read them!
Thank you for notifying me though! :)
I'll post a ref link very soon to this. The legs are nearly identical to of that in the photo. Sorry for the inconvenience!
lots of issues, but all very easily fixed. the potential is killer
Her left leg (our right) looks very, very broken, and her legs seem too short to me. Nice work on defining the forms, though.
You should link to your ref, if you used any.
Also, the preview image is NPA (not pixel art), so this piece might not get accepted to the gallery. You should make a preview that is also pixel-art. The easiest way to do so is to make a crop of the original image.
In general, any sort of automatic resizing of pixel art to be smaller is a bad idea, since it usually distorts the art and/or creates a lot of unwanted colours.
I was aware of the shading. I've been planning to redo that knee for a while, but never managed to get the time. Thought if I was going to fix some things up, might has well upload it to some places and try to get other critisms and fix those up as well in one run. Kinda like hitting two birds with one stone.
Thank you very much!
