Colours - Max 32 (this is the maximum for the entire image).
Transparency - Required (must be used between each of the sprites).
Animation - No.
For example, a robot with his armor broken is considered a second form?
For example a mage which changes his element would work too, even if he is neither becoming weaker or stronger.

sweet momma I love sprite challenges. Especially ones where I get to do really cool boss designs! I'm going to try to go for a design more than the boss simply getting more muscels or whatever.
Question:
In Megaman X you fight the dog (treble?) and then sigma and then his head on a weird machine. Does this count as 3 forms of the boss or does it all have to be the same character?

I suppose so, though more drastic changes between forms is better.
