@SeDiceBisonte it was fun figuring out how to do it all. It helps that I allowed myself a lot of colours to get the gradients all working.

@fortuna0800 Happy Christmas!

@Trigonomicon If I'd known people would want to see it I would have called the 'firesands' something easier to pixel like 'cement paving land' or something! Though honestly after having a go at this it would be nice to do some more on it or something similar so maybe I'll get around to it some time.

I love this. Excellent characterful animation.

Ridiculous amount of work to produce this much animation at this level of quality. It's wonderful.

Very dark and mysterious atmosphere. Love how you're using the limited palette and shaped dither.

Really like this. Looks simple at first but all the bits are doing clever, interesting things with perspective and colour and texture.

This is a really incredible secret Santa gift. Thanks so much. So much cool stuff and details and gribble to look through and great interpretations of the Neuromancer characters too.

I feel like I could lose hours boggling at the texture work here (and I will). It's amazing.

Lovely composition, great colours. Truly excellent.

Brilliant. I wondered what an AdamF sci-fi piece would look like and now we know. Very evocative of last century sci-fi book covers but with the quality dialed up a notch even.

@QueenKami it's definitely level-selecty. Watch out for that first griffon fight, it's a tricky one.

A really great piece of pixel art. You keep outdoing yourself. Plus: found the dragon, which I'd totally missed seeing during the reveal stream. Too much other stuff in here to look at is my excuse.

@judebuffum The one palette is just a subset of the other, but it did make for a nice thumbnail!

I’m in.

Some things I like:

aardvarks, birds, cityscapes, dynamism, exoplanets, fantasy adventures,
giant robots, hidden worlds, imaginative details, jackalopes,
keas, large robots, magicians, nineteenth century art & illustration,
one-bit dither, personal vision, quite small robots, robots,
silksong, tasteful melancholy, ultra tiny robots,
very impressive clouds, William Gibson, xenon 2, yaks,
zebras or zebroid animals that are secretly robots after all.

And some I don't:

brand name TV/movie scifi (Star Wars and Treks etc.)

@umbohr its a good palette to work with. Plus its a good opportunity to do something that's basically a figure study just with added grunge.

This whole thing works wonderfully as a complete panoramic image. The way you handle the narrative is great.  It's so impressive that you can read off a satisfying linear horror story very clearly.

I think this is going to be one of those pieces I'll be coming back to over and again for inspiration for rendering effects. Amazing dynamic image.

Wow! And you did almost the entire thing all at once at the end! Excellent use of colour as always. Zooming in and seeing all those greens within the orange/red sky and sea is pretty amazing to me.

I was really liking the tiny city thing you had going on and you snuck in an entire other city on the final week! It's great.

user
amberMechanic @ 10/29/2025 10:51 commented on The End of Everything

@hby realistically breaking the perspective was the only way of continuing the image without it looking unintentionally weird. It worked out quite well narrative-wise.

user
amberMechanic @ 10/29/2025 10:49 commented on The End of Everything

@SeDiceBisonte yeah those poor zombies! The city really ended ages ago but now the zombies' apocalpyse is getting one-upped by the big energy octopus monster.

user
amberMechanic @ 10/29/2025 10:46 commented on The End of Everything

@wolfGD thanks. It's as final as I can make it. Including being the final thing I do for this year's pixelween, since I can't come up with a good way to connect a bonus week image to the start of the panorama.

user
amberMechanic @ 10/29/2025 10:42 commented on The End (pixelween week 4)

Really great. You've got in so much variety throughout the four weeks while still mainaining a cohesive overall vision. It feels like almost every variation of what the palette is capable of.
