 i'm doing a pixel gfx entry for alt party 2010 (demoscebe event in helsinki this week end), let's see if i get it finished :)

i'm still going to use GrafX 2 for creating that pic, so no fancy photoshop palette management :), but hand picked palettes for sure, no smearing etc :P just free painting with various brush sizes :) (i know, i know..).

wanna give me a theme? that would be nice! it just needs to be powerful enough to jump from the mass :)

 Jeremy: in this case the contrast between black and next-darkest color is because of my ooold and bad monitor back then 13 years ago.

Dumbo: "Why do this style art through pixels?" - wellh, why the hell not? :) 13 years ago Deluxe Paint was best possible way (for me at least) to do nice-looking Digital Art, demoscene-wise. i don't like this pic anymore that much, but i uploaded it among others, coz i had them on my HD. I've lost piles of old pixel gfx, mainly because of HD failures. of course i do wacom illustrations nowadays, too. i just love early '90 era in pixel gfx (game & demoscene)

yeah, i used a magazine as a reference when i drew nose :) but no digital picture behind that etc.. otherwise 100% by me. i finished this picture at the partyplace so that's why partly crappy hearts. background is mainly done in 8h or less at the partyplace..

it was 13 years ago, so i have had like 2-3 harddisk crashes since that. no work in progress left..

 no smear/transparency/etc used, just free drawing. various brush sizes during painting, tho :). background is unfinished here and there, but it is hand drawn as well, in quite close zoom :). picture is what it is, no explanations, no excuses :)

 wellh, maybe we just have different opinions on Pixel graphics :D
back then we tried to make as real as possible (can't do it anymore, shame on me) and it seems pixel gfx nowadays is more like 8-bit outlined nintendo game graphics.. :) no offence!

tomic: all the stuff you said about palette is surely true :) no optimazing at all. using grafX 2 and ramping all i can :) surely i'll do some low color gfx as well, i used to work as a pixel graphician at sulake (habbo hotel), so been there done that :) but now, i'd like to call this style more "pixel impressionism" than indexpainting :)
