World's Most Powerful Computers

News Details

What would you do with a computer that can run 10,000 programs at the same time without any sign of lag?   What would you put onto a harddrive that can hold the entire Library of Congress, US Patent Office, and all the data at The Smithonian 3 times?

The world's top 500 super computers
can do all that and more.  A few of them are able to simulate an entire universe, or make an near exact model of Earth complete with AI and weather tracking.

You see, computers can still fill an entire room, but it is by choice, and a sweet one at that.

It is technically impossible to create an exact copy of the earth using something that is smaller than the earth itself. The only thing they can do is a on-surface, shallow copy of the earth. Like what a game of Sim City is compared to how a real city evolves. They can only simulate the "macro" of the thing. A perfect copy would mean they would have to place in position every single elementary particle right.... They prolly couldnt even do such a simulation of your finger, Let alone the whole planet.

I dunno, 10,000 games of minesweeper would be enough to make ME go insane.
