Create a mock up of an original game showing the final boss battle. Just a reminder: As per usual, your entire challenge entry must be made during this week.
Canvas Size - Max 320 x 240.
Colours - Max 32.
Transparency - No.
Animation - No.
You may make alterations up until the deadline, but not during the voting week. That's all.
Is it possible to upload an edit (second version) before the deadline, or are challenges limited to unalterable submissions only? One of the rules says "Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART".
Depends on the time zone. In the Netherlands, challenges end on Mondays at 9AM. Remember that there's an accurate countdown on the front page.
The challenge is to create a final boss battle, if that battle happens to includes multiple enemies, then sure. Look at Inphy's piece over in the WIP topic.
I'm just about finished with mine (thank God). It's been fun doing this one. Thanks for posting this challenge!
I got started on this challenge way too late. Something's better than nothing though I guess.
Adarias, I think skamocore came up with this challenge. We usually don't include the name when it's from someone on the mod team. Not entirely sure why, actually.
think I'm going to enter! ^^ ive already been working on my piece since yesterday, kinda inspired by paul robertsons............ stuff hope its going to come out nicely, but im not quite sure about the color sceme, maybe something gameboy-ish
are we not posting who came up with the challenges anymore? i liked knowing even when i didn't participate...
Am I allowed to use one of the characters I already made up within the mockup if I do a completely new sprite of said character?
@asukicco - Yes, but if you're wanting to recreate it - you can't :P Only original games for this challenge.
@Death-Auron - Any genre where you can have a boss fight. This does include RPGs but you do not have to do an RPG.
@Antifarea - Preferably your own fonts; Definitely no Auto AA'd fonts.
Also, 32 is more than enough for a mock up. Have a look at this.
Just asking: can the monkey island's final scene with lechuck be considered a final boss fight?
You're probably looking for an answer from an administrator, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't.
There are so many more genres of games than RPG, that could include 'final boss battles'.
is it supposed to be an RPG mock up? and if so, does it need to have stuff written like the hp, menu, etc?
Awesome challenge. That's all I have to say.
Hope I can come up with an idea and get it done before the week is up.
By the way, is it possible to make an scene of the final battle and add the menu to make it look like a mockup, cause I prefer to draw the fighting scene but in a cinematic style, like how this game is played in this video:
as long as it shows both the heroes and the last boss is it possible? and what about the fonts, do we have to create the fonts or can we use generic fonts like "system", "arial", etc?
HELLZ YEAH!! I'm so in! I've been developing my conceptual game sprites for a while, so this should be fun!
Haha well it's different when you are a pro and you'll figure it out easy how to color everything... I'll deffinitely give it a shot though, even if I totally screw it cause of not arranging the colors propertly. It is a shame you won't take a shot this time, judging by your experience in doing mockups.
32 colors is plenty. If I had time I might have done this one. My kind of thing. Looking forward to seeing all the entries though.
HAHAHA this is great, this is the direction I wish pixel joint would go for more since I'm more interested in game related stuff... specially when it comes to contests here. Nice canvas size, which is the actual resolution of the RM2k3. What threw me back a little was the color count... I was hoping for more colors, maybe 64? considering this is an actual scene and I was planning on using 4 characters + the boss and then the background, this is quite the challenge.
Final Boss Battle? I don't understand a word in this sentence (OK, 1/2!).
Thinking of it, I don't really know what a game is, actually.
Cool challenge is cool.
I really want to see some creative entries you guiz.
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
