PJ member SovanJedi did all the major pixel art in this pretty amazing music video!
Check out: The Living Tombstone - Love I Need
SovanJedi tells us:
"I was a huge fan of The Living Tombstone and wanted to animate a music video for him so I DMed him over Twitter asking if there was anything I could work on. Then it just snowballed from there, really. The whole process took 3-4 months including sketching, idea formation and the actual art production. I made all of the pixel art and pixel art-related animations, and the video editor, Coda, pieced everything together in an animation representing games. We went back and forth on some things and I had suggestions on various animation tricks to make them look more authentic to their original games. Most of it was made before the final track was even completed, which is unusual for music videos, but thankfully it worked in our case since the whole video is intentionally disjointed because of the different game types.
The character was someone I created based on Living Tombstone's logo. He's just called Skull Guy! The original concept was a character who originated from a Zelda-like world, so I purposefully made him very reminiscent of Link's designs.
It was an agonising challenge to work on, but trying to create a lot of different game types and their artstyles was super rewarding. I'm particularly proud of the DOOM, Turtles in Time and Diablo sections because there was a lot of forcing myself to make animations "worse" based on how they were in their original games, but it was super fun to see the results."
Which games do you spot?
Very cool stuff, congratulations to you, @SovanJedi!
