by "content" of the image do you mean concept? can we completely remake the picture using the same ideas, or do the pixels have the stay in the same place but change in colour?

the concept. Recolouring an image wouldn't be much of a challenge.

   One can't own ideas.

If someonme else does something similar, you'll rank depending on how good your piece is, regardless. |

However, yes, the main image does have the giant lizard watching the smaller ones so it'll be ideal to add them as it's one of the main concepts of that piece. |

Concerning the vase critter, is it ok if one is not exactly similar in shape but has the same idea of a vase creature? Edited by baah - 10 January 2012 at 11:53am |

I have one question. Are we allowed to use the palette of someone else if we give credit or we should pick the colours ourselves aswell? (*peers at this topic in particular*)

   Haha, funny idea

I think the biggest problem is the rendering. I would not suggest to use dither for it, like you did. Does't makes sence at a plain surface to me. And it doesn't gives anough depth to the ladyshark. I addition, the white backlight is too thin and gives ugly banding to the piece. Try to use bigger areas to shade, especially for the shadow, e. g. the back should be dark. |

Well, I don't want it to be overloaded, neither do I want her to be flat, as she seems to me now. I prefer dithering as far as it seem to give more, heh, texture, but, well, I usually try to keep it moderate, you know. But I'll try to make some changes following your advice.

As for the backlight, well, I believe this is how it supposed to be IRL, when the light source is right behind you - thin and bright. |

I think it'd be an even better idea to finish up yer background and judge yourself how the lighting on the shark should look/weigh it. |

It's a bit cluttered, might want to cut back on the dithering a bit.
