I think, I'll give it a try. I've always wanted to redo some of my old drawings as pixel art anyway, so this seems the perfect opportunity to do so. original drawing (from 2002): current sloppy pixel version:

Forgive me for asking such a silly question, but am I allowed to enter a piece if it was started a long time ago and fits the criteria, but never completed?

http://sj.arc-nova.org/b/theship.pngwell I wanted something that left room to improve. The other [below] was my first choice but I don't think it would be as interesting in pixels. http://sj.arc-nova.org/b/scarecrow.JPG
*edit* going with the first

Thanks Tarenken, I hope I'll manage to force my lazy a$$ to finish it. Yours looks promising Setzer, I really like the wooden texture on the ship. The sky is quite interesting too. I started cleaning up mine, refining the volumes and decided upon a palette:

Dennis, that is so hot. I can't wait to see it finished.. I think I'm going to enter, I just have to decide on which one of my numerous horrible early pieces to remakes... It's a toss up between http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk211/ChoutetteMoutette/prigionalsketch.pngand this one... http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk211/ChoutetteMoutette/rawrsketch.pngThe first would be faster and easier, but the second one would be more interesting, and probably more time consuming, but the first is far earlier so there could be a lot more to improve on, than the second.... opinions?

Reference image ^ Current Version Trying to make it look sketchy as it was before I lost it. The one on the internet doesn't have the sketchy parts... Is it still alright?

Well, I'm not sure if my piece fits the rules but here's a wip:

Way back, maybe twenty years ago I found a can of blue paint and decided to revive the old raggedy-ass Skoda in my grandparents backyard. I was badly scolded after for wasting a can of paint and ruining my clothes.
This piece recalls that painting (process).

Thanks Malor, though currently it looks like laziness is going to win once again, anyway, I'm still cleaning it up, refining lines and volumes: Malor: If I had to choose from those two, I'd pick the dinosaur as it looks a lot more interesting. Adam: Lovely story. I guess it fits the rules, as long as you link in a picture of that old paintjob on that Skoda.

Damned requirements! Though I may be able to dig up some ancient bw photo of it.
Meanwhile, color test no.3:
I'm still not satisfied with the skin tones.

Can you use the picture for lineart, or do you need to do the lineart again? Loving the idea :D

Finished cleaning up lines and volumes and started detailing. Not sure what I'll do in the background yet but I'm thinking of clouds and dunes and maybe some palm trees.

How about a kitchen floor? with the mouse hole in the background. And a large shadow of a cats head over the whole image, sort of draped back onto the wall.

Dennis, I would suggest a junkyard, since most of your colors are grey anyways (random metal objects) and you've got the brown to tack on as rust/mud, plus its a rat with mechanical toys, it seems fitting.

Making slow progress. Took me about five hours just to shade those first four pieces of the mini-gun. I'm currently doubting that I will be able to finish this before the deadline runs out: FlyGuy, I like the idea with the kitchen floor and the shadow of the cat but I'd have to completely change the lightsource for that and I'd also have to put most of the rat into a shadow then, which I don't want to do. Setzer, I like the idea with the junkyard too but I'm afraid I don't have time and energy for that, as it would required an awful lot of detailed pieces of junk and I'm running out of time already. Not saying that dunes and clouds do not take time to make them look ok but I have decided to do those for the background.

Dromanjerr (D=), I think your picture looks good but it's not ready to be submitted. Try anti-aliasing it a bit.
