The head is already pretty huge. Compare the photo to the drawing. 

I might just have to redo it twice as big, but that still doesn't fix my face-making problems. :P

@DeProgrammer - umm...i think you should make the hair longer,and add something girly , and it would be nice if you'll make it bigger ;]

apparently you don't make a very shapely woman.

Been working on mine for a couple of days now , decided to call my girly version : "MissComunication". will finish it soon :D

and to deprogrammer- I think you should make the eyes more girly , and add lines around ... everything . though you don't have toif that's not your style .

Made the neck thinner, added an eye outline while I was at that. I actually HAD outlines in the last version I posted, SilverSpirit, but I'm getting rid of them.

Yeah, the right arm looks short...the line art doesn't show how the arm is supposed to be sticking toward the background, but the references make it more apparent. It should look right when shaded.

But yeah, still trying!

Some reason I entirely lack the ability to even tell if poses and anatomy are significantly off. I try to pay close attention, but I still can't see it.

So I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. (Also, I've mostly been focusing on the drawing for my reference.)

ok deprogrammer, I dont want to sound like Im saying anything short of the exact pose in the reference is bad, but as yours is now, following the reference more closely will make it better in my opinion.  Well I drew some arrows on your ref compared to yours

compare the lengths and angles of the red arrows.  Also another thing you can do is draw a line down where the center of the figure is (the fuschia line) yours in more straight on whereas your ref is more at a 3/4 view, I think the 3/4 angle makes the pose a bit more dynamic.  Another thing you can do is put down some straight verticle or horizontal lines to see where things line up in the picture (green line).  SO from this you would notice that the right side of the shoe and right side of the shoulder pretty much line up.  Another thing you can do is check proportions by comparing parts to other parts.  For example, how many heads tall is it?  How far is it from the head to the waist compared to the waist to the foot?  These are all techniques you learn if your drawing from life, but also work with photos.

also in response to the last poster, I think it could look more like a girl too.  The hair isnt particularily femenine, as emo guys pretty much have that same hair.  Maybe make the pants tighter to show the shape of the legs more.

also, you sort of remind me of james rolf in that picture (angry video game nerd) ha.

edit: just noticed I wasnt using the newest version of your pic, well the crits still apply anyways, though the new one does look a bit more like a girl.  I did read it as being a girl by the way, but I just think you could push it farther.

the trick is learning to see the image as a whole rather than in parts, because your parts might be right seperatly, but may not add together right.  Thats why after an initial sketch is a good idea to go back and double check all the relations and youll see things you might not see if you didnt go back and double check.  Looking at negative shapes helps too (not here so much though, but its something to keep in mind).

DeProgrammer, if I may make a small suggestion to push the femininity...get rid of the overcoat.

You seem to have boots on rather than high heel shoes, so make those boots go up past your knee.

Expose some of the leg area and change your top to maybe an over sized t-shirt or make the top a lighter color so that you can better define the shape on the chest area.

This is Dpixelle.  Of course I'll still have my axe.  I know it's a little bright, but I'm on a dark monitor right now.

What next? (I'm not getting rid of the trench coat. It's one of my trademarks! Besides, the female version of me I made in City of Heroes looked female, and she had short hair, a fedora, and a trench coat!)
