Starting life in the slums of rural Australia, Ivan Dixon (better known as 'iSTVAN'), began his humble career as a Kliker; creating games and graphics to be distributed over the internet during the late nineties. With ever a keen eye for art, iSTVAN found his true passions lay in the graphical aspects of game making -- namely pixel art. He quickly rose in the pixel ranks to his current position of internet stardom which he is prone to profess loudly as an icebreaker, when introducing himself to people at parties. Ivan also enjoys watching tv, movies, and arguing. He's created many games and worked on a number of comedy based comics. His dog's name is Indy.

iSTVAN @ 5/10/2009 11:18:54 PM commented on Sydney Spelunky style I can't make any promises! What inspired a return to the pixel art form was a recent stint of freelancing that required pixel art. I think pixel is a specialist niche that regular illustrators just can't fill. Thanks Reo.
iSTVAN @ 5/10/2009 11:15:30 PM commented on Trapped. He sort of looks like Wolverine...this was intentional, right? Nice liquid and palette. I see no reason why this should be disqalified. It's both a thing and a scene, in my mind.
iSTVAN @ 5/10/2009 10:27:34 PM commented on Tasteless Nudity CommanderD97, have you ever pulled a breast up with your hand? Applying enough upward pressure to the top of a breast will cause the nipple to (and the rest of the breast) to tug upwards. Notice how the left breast is sagging down more than the right?

iSTVAN @ 11/13/2008 6:35:48 PM commented on Is that a...BIRD?! Hey your stuff reminds me of The B.O.B! Cool clouds, although I think the textures might be competing a little for attention...sort of makes the bird not stand out as much.
iSTVAN @ 11/13/2008 6:27:25 PM commented on Big Bird Thanks peeps. Apart from Uni, I've also been concentrating on my cartooning skills... which has been a major distraction from pixel art! What's been happening in the world of pixels, anyways?

iSTVAN @ 5/28/2008 8:02:03 AM commented on Werewolf Cards Oh, and nice way of using the eyes to distinguish the Evil, Townsfolk and Special cards from each other.
iSTVAN @ 5/28/2008 7:59:57 AM commented on Werewolf Cards My friends and I play this game pretty often. It can be really fun. We usually draw our own sets and have had lengthy discussions over the invention of new characters. I'm assuming that the Priest is the same as the Sorcerer, with the ability to grant life and death once each, and that the Werelock is an evil version of this that works with the Werewolves. I had the same idea recently. I'll also assume that the Vigilante is the same as the Hunter in our game. Does the Lumberjack have two lives or something, or is it just a Python-esque in-joke? No idea what the half-breed is. We also play with a Cupid who chooses two Lovers at the start. The Lovers are then a separate team who work together. If one dies, the other does. So they try to protect each other. Wow, lengthy comment, and I haven't even mentioned the art! I think maybe you should include a few female Werewolves, to even out the gender inbalance- not that I have a problem with the dangling knobs! |
