A collab has been going on at the PJ discord, we've been making terraced houses on a sloped street. See the current entries here at wepixel.art.
But for any good pixel town we need more than just houses. You are challenged to make a non-residential building, such a shop, office, hospital, fire department, museum, you name it!
For this challenge we'll be using a wider template then normal, to have these buildings stand out a bit. They will still have to use the same scale and palette as the other buildings.
Scale and palette:
For the building, use this template. The height is only the max height, you are allowed to make a building that is less high (but not less wide).
You notice there already is a street included in the template. You are free to modify the street as you wish, but please make sure that it can still connect nicely to the street of an adjacent house.
A submission for this challenge will be included on the collab page at wepixel.art as well, unless you specifically request us not to (leave a note in the description or DM me).
Canvas: Width: exactly 128px. Height: Max 152px, min 56px (see the template)
Colors: Max 18 + transparency, only from the palette above.
Transparency: Required, under the road and optionally above the building (don't draw the sky)
Animation: Optional
Bonus challenge: Hide cats on or in the building.

If wepixel is able to handle the submission, we can terminate the discord channel after some time and let the collab live through wepixel i guess.
this street collab feels like it could last for the rest of the year and it would be fine. the more houses, the better.

Ok...I get it now. Since I'm on the phone hadn't got a chance to download the templates to check out for myself. Was really confused because the scale example seemed too narrow for 152×128. hahaha

Midnight from Sunday to Monday. There is a timer that is counting down on the front page right side!
The 152px is counting from the bottom of the canvas, so the bottom most pixel of the road. The template provided is exactly 152px high, you can use that.
Interesting challenge! Gonna try to do something for it.
In the challenge thread says "Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry", does this mean, midnight from Saturday to Sunday, or from Sunday to Monday?
Also, the maximum height, 152px, is it counting from the topmost pixel of the road?
The mm is just a scale guide, so you know that for example the 28 pixel high door in the example is roghly equivalent to a 2100mm door in real life.
don't worry about those numbers, that's just some unnecessary nonsense. the image should serve as a guide, so elements of your house aren't going to be too big or too tiny.
shape of the house can be pretty much what you want, but it is supposed to fit into the street. check what is already done in the street collab (which this challenge is part of): https://wepixel.art/galleries/5

. I would really love to do this challenge. But I'm really confused about the requirements.
. Can anyone explain the measurements that are in mm? Are the buildings all meant to be cuboidal? Please can anyone explain the requirements in more detail? I would really appreciate it!
Edit: Also, is it okay to post more than one entry for a weekly challenge?
What a great challenge! I haven't had any time for pixelling lately and it's another tough week, but I've got an idea for this.
I can't wait until I have more time again. I'm missing PixelJoint!
I had a lot of fun making my first house, gonna try to get something done for this one! Maybe a cute bakery or something. Can't wait to see what everyone else makes!!
