imo, you might want to adjust the contrast of the bgs.  They seem a bit too sharp and that makes it look like it's at the same distance from the viewer as the foreground tiles.  Just imo though :)

Sure it does... in fact it's more a mecha than the mechs in the WIP thread.  As long as it has a pilot I think it should be good.

I kinda think "they lied" should have been ranked higher... that one was my favorite

But you have a WIP thread!!! How can they say it's not your work?!?!? Timestamps dude! They're just willingly blind at this point!

I don't think it would be darker but rather adding a bit of light blue... of course others could give better advice I'm sure.

Yo! got a quick question... regarding recent events, are traces acceptable if you make an original pencil sketch for instance and then trace that?  And why are they unacceptable, btw?

M. Lucanius @ 4/13/2010 07:18 commented on the strugle of life

Actually, the reason for this is quite fascinating.  In the visible spectrum the different frequencies of light diffuse less or more readily depending on how close they are to the blue side.  Blue diffuses very readily and thus when you see a blue sky it's because the blue light from the light source (the sun) is being scattered by the particles in the atmosphere and thus reach your eyes.  Also at sunset the blue light is scattered once again (away from the viewer's eyes) by the obstructing particles resulting in an absence of blue and more noticeable red.  I also hypothesize that this is the reason why, when coloring a white shirt, you should add blueish shadows rather than grey. </geek speak>

Just thought it'd be neat to have a reason along with kuph's explanation

EDIT: I meant diffuse... diffuse! ugh... fixed

M. Lucanius @ 4/9/2010 14:29 commented on Big Bird

but why on earth would it be logical? If nature tells us one thing and morality tells us another, that is entirely illogical. Either it is moral (good) to murder for self advancement or it is evil (bad). Also, you assume survival is "good"... what determined that? Was it determined at the big bang? If so, was it random? If so, can it change?... e.g. Death of everything is good!

EDIT: I think it's chatter

M. Lucanius @ 4/9/2010 13:49 commented on Big Bird

@hatch Regrettably, that is a rather faulty standard as well...

Why wouldn't I want it done to me? Because I seek pleasure rather than pain? but then why is the chemical reaction in the brain called "pleasure" more desirable then, say... pain? why don't we try to attain pain? why don't I like it when someone kicks me in the teeth? Because of a chemical reaction in the brain? It's just chemistry, right? If everything is merely naturalistic there is no reason why I should not like this done to me.

M. Lucanius @ 4/9/2010 13:28 commented on Big Bird

I knew it would come to this

yup! you can't have wrong or right unless you have a reason and a standard.  Who says it's wrong?  Who says we shouldn't?  In fact it is therefore moral to steal if it advances oneself!  It is moral to murder if I am advantaged by it!  Have I done "wrong" things in the past that have advantaged me with no ill effects? Absolutely! Therefore it must be moral to do "wrong" if it makes me more fit for survival... right?  That includes theft, murder, lying, anything!...

...but...

we know it's wrong. If I were to say I desire to kick a young child in the teeth and possibly even kill him, any one of you would immediately demand that I not! So why do you know it's wrong??? The only logical answer is that there is a moral law giver... but I am almost certain no one here cares to hear about that

M. Lucanius @ 4/9/2010 13:12 commented on Big Bird

Unfortunately, crime does sometimes pay.  The fact that it is a crime does not change because of the effect.  If someone gets nowhere with a ripped piece, he is no less guilty than one that does get somewhere.  Simply put, it's wrong and should not be tolerated because it is wrong.
