Tnx.

That`s (supposed to be) vehicle. Top unit designed to clear the way and build railroad. Middle unit is train itself. And bottom unit collect railroad for further use. "topside" because it has top view, side view and "train", well, because of railroad.

I wonder if that explains anything.

While we at it (beanding), that pic you sent earlier. Should i ever encounter a line, like the one marked with "A", i`ll do my best to fix it into "B". Aestetic tastes huh.. i wonder if i have some.

As for that pic, most of your critique makes a lot of sense and i`ll remember that. Couple words about head thou. It`s supposed to be profile (guess it is neck what gives wrong impression), while the body 3/4. And 'nose' isn`t supposed to be look like that. It`s one big nostril without cartilage, witch size is almost equal to demons eye, even slightly bigger.

Why did i draw that picture in some ms-paint-spray-style? Well that what that experiment was about. I was wondering how it will turn out.

0_o in that suicider pic of mine a actually said that it isn`t yours comment witch was hurtful... oh well. And i belive nationality has nothing to do with quality of art at all.

Anyway, it`s time to fed my bear with some capitalistic meat... good thing most of them are fat guys.

N008573r @ 9/10/2010 22:43 commented on Big Bird

>why would you want to emphasize the square nature of the pixel?

actually i was about to comment that one as well, but i wont. I can`t keep it up with all posts around already, so i just get back to actually drawing pixel rather that arguing about them.

> OMG! You are Russian...

Oh, i got discovered... should i crack jokes about bears, vodka and balalaika now?

Seriously. What so wrong about being a Russian?

That exactly what i`m thinking when a look at all that photorealistic-or-close-to-it pixelled portraits actually.

Anyway that comment is pretty hurtfull, since noone can actually say what is pixel-art or any other kind of art is about. Everyone found something unique for their liking in art or music. And that what is it about. Just for the person who found it.

Now, i`m not claiming pixelart is all about banding and red piece of meat. Still banding and dithering and pixel portraits as well and that red mess above is part of pixelart. (this one could actually lack the -art part, but it`s a joke).

edit: oh that was answering for Justincrdibl`s post. I cant keep it up with all posts.

N008573r @ 9/10/2010 22:10 commented on Big Bird

>keep pixelling

That at much i will.

As i said before - it would be great if someone could provide me and example *pic with banding*//*same pic without banding, and its look obvious better*. For now only DawnBringer tried to do something like that (not that anyone absolutely must to do that of course). And i still find the banding part better -_-.

As for my heart - that actually why i submitted it at all. I belive it has 16-lines-fatness of banding, witch makes it look like gradient fill. Now, i`m not saying that it is the marvelous piece of pixel art and will live for ages. But is it banding witch making it so bad? I don`t think so. Bending in that piece is actually look like private case of dithering to me. It unusual, yes, but is it bad? Just because it banding?

Also i`m not sure what cure talking about... i mean when i look at that pix. I see a red-gradient mess at least. But i cant see any 'lines that cut across the image' at all.

At last some 'picturebackupped' statement. (that what i longed for, since i started my little 'banding war'. Not that i intended to do so thou -_-). Alas, i still think that the leftmost part of pic is better than middle one (i`m not talking about rightmost part of it, since it`s not AA we talking about here, but banding). The pixels on the left piece seems (to me) to be well placed and all lined up, as they supposed to be. The pixels on the middle one, on the opposite,  seems a bit misplaced and give me a feeling this part is got actually something wrong with it. Also i find it to hard to trace the outline with my eyes, when i look on the middle pic. Maybe that 'untrakingabling' is what the artist wanted to do in first place, but it still looks wrong for me.

Anyway i`d prefer not to flame about banding anymore here. Even thou i uploading some more banding pics.

@yrizoud: I`m not here to make any excuses to my piece (to every piece of that 'piece' as well). I just wondering what`s wrong with banding (not on that exact pixel).

As you all probably know already - i got my opinion about banding. As for the other critique - i keep that in mind. Thanks.

DawnBringer`s link makes no sense -_- a photo of a dog? what does it have to do with banding?

greenraven, You should realise that i just playing along with your beloved moderator who called my altitude - noobitude. And nothing insulting (for him at least) in playing along with that.

>Someday soon you'll find that embarrasing and laughable.

I wonder if i will. Because right now, when i asking why banding is wrong, almost everyone here say - its just because it is ugly (some guys here actually try to show me why it is, but i still fail at understanding). But it is all about personal opinion if something ugly or beautiful, so i need more proves (and something like 'i draw better and that`s why i know better' isn`t actually fit in). Could anyone please show me couple of pictures like that: *pic with banding*//*same pic without banding, and its look obvious better*? Because those examples in topic on forum mentioned above (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=8110.msg92434#msg92434) actually doesn`t look that good WITHOUT bending.

For now the whole dialogue is like -why bending is bad? -because its ugly. -why bending is ugly? -cause its bad.

p.s. it is my english which could use some adjusting, not my attitude. I`m not that bad.

And you must learn never say 'never'.

>exceptions do exist

Got one exception right here (it`s a joke).

What`s wrong with pixels placed like that ?

Too pixeled? It supposed to be. Ugly? No such thing. At least i can`t see ugliness in banding. I believe i found on forum that it 'look not smooth nor sharp'.. actually i can say if line sharp or smooth whatever it has banding or not. What else? Why banding is wrong?

N008573r @ 9/10/2010 10:57 commented on Big Bird

Well let that n00817ude scream a bit more then - nothing wrong with banding.

Yeah. Some personal opinion here. Outlined pixels here are actually ok (and i guess that`s why the next "fixed" picture not scaled up -talking about topic here- because it actually worser than before with all that 'wrong' banding). After all lurking about banding i just found out that banding is wrong because its wrong... uhuh.. nothing wrong with that? Maybe we should ban red color as well since its ugly. Or maybe green one? Wrong because ugly. And ugly because i think so. Logic with banding looks same to me.

Let me show you another mysterious and minimalistic picture, ev149, with fear and horror included: here you go .

I think that pixelart lacking both pixel- and -art parts -_- And that preview... if someone like me posted that kind of preview i doubt any one would saw it besides me, since it definitely won`t pass in gallery. The more i look at author`s other pixels, the more i get angry when i see that one. Laziness won this time. You can do better.

The dot in the end of that sentence is actually a small ant named Billy, witch live a peaceful life in the internet, fight commas time to time, and searching for his anthill. Hmm i should put him into gallery... not decided on preview thou.

How long does it takes to approve pixelart? I mean that pic above have been posted 9/10/2010 and my pixel still waiting for approval while it 'Uploaded to gallery @ 9/8/2010 10:29:12 PM'.

N008573r @ 9/5/2010 13:01 commented on MMOdern day RPG

When i started to read challenge rules, the first thing came to my mind was Diablo. Inventory screen from it, to  be precise (this pic is pretty much about that inventory screen=) So the basic idea was to draw that screen, filled with modern guns to fit the challenge. Then i became to 'improve' that idea of mine. Thought of interface, minimap, chat etc, etc. It turned out into lot of thins and in the end - background didnt get any decent attention.

Then several small bad things happened. First of all, i miscalculated the time for that challenge. I thought that yesterday was a last day to apply actually, and because of that i rushed like damned. On a side note - torrent that i downloaded seems to be  broken, and my icq client suddenly decided to broke as well (small things like that pretty annoying -_-) Also i realised that submitted pic have a layer with palette turned on. I was exhausted to type any decent description as well. So much for a story of success eh?=)

Anyway, i learned a few things from that day, so it isn`t that bad i suppose. Also i feel like i need to mention that all text is pixelart as well (just in case someone got doubts about it). As for comments - i don`t  get the part about flat ui. I mean... isn`t it supposed to be flat, because its... ui?
