I had wanted to make a PC-98 piece for some time already, other dithered pics I made followed no actual restrictions and had a colorcount around 20.
 

This looks like Phyrexians gained a foothold on the world of Nausicaa.

Perfectly executed, I didn't even recognize DB32 at first even though it's the palette I have used the most.

It's 36 frames and maybe something like 500 layers.

Why, because the dust and shards I animated separately (2 dust clouds, many different glass bits) then arranged on top of everything else, each instance of glass crumbling or dust puff has its own layer. The 8-figure and the sand flow upwards were sketched beforehand, the rest was more improvised.

I have learned a shitton making the effects for this game, I'll upload more examples.

I think it's the highest-res pixelart piece I've ever made.

I did spend quite a bit of effort in trying to get the silhouette just right, particularly in the hands and the hair contour on the top of the head. That last thing I had to redo several times because it just wasn't all quite there.

This could have a WAY better finish, and probably a somewhat better anatomy; but it merits a 4 just out of the daring perspective and sheer attitude.

Plants growing out of machinery and the floral print are the icing on the cake making it a 5.

Well, I'm still exploring the technique, so I'm bound to err on the side of excess rather than defect.

You don't really know the limitations of a technique until you've explored it thoroughly... on the other hand, I find dither patterns soothing, same with big chunky halftone prints.

So far all my dither pieces have been a research *on* dithering, what you can do with it and how. This time I was figuring out 8 basic patterns that yield all the typical dither patterns from 0% to 100%, and which order to paint them in.

This looks nice but I think you're going to need to revise it... there is "dirty" shading all over the place.

You need a definite colorcount.
