Yeah, the fist and gi are loosely traced from the SFA sprite as a base   The client is a huge fan of Ken and told me he wanted the portrait based on him; I felt like the thumbs-up was symbolic of Kens' character, so that served as the starting point for the picture.

It's really smooth, but it's a little slow, in my opinion. When you use an animation technique like smearing, the thing you're animating should be going FAST! If you add more frames, the object you're animating will move more slowly (this is really evident in the scythe wind-up). I cut out 10 frames which I considered unnessecary, here is the result.

Frame management aside, this is a great sprite! Hope development goes well for you!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll be sure to post a link to the project when it's done!

@Inphy Yeah, someone had mentioned splitting it up more before, but I misinterpereted the advice and split the rear end of the car instead of the front grille (it helped with the overall animation, but not in the way intended ). I'll keep that in mind for the future, though!

@Friend I just don't get it. I have to run the real OST in the background with the in-game music muted. SEGAs' soundtracks are like, the best part of their games! Why they couldn't chuck a few thousand dollars at The Offspring & Bad Religion (who are probably in need of some income anyways considering how irrelevant they are now) to get those tracks onto the port!? They did the same thing with Jet Grind Radio, too!

Thanks for the comments, guys! Does this help convey the 3d effect better? The bumper and windshield are still a little messy but I should probably consider it done for now. Thanks again!

I saw the B&W donatello sprite in your WIP video and was wondering what it was doin' there, hah! You should animate it if there aren't too many frames

Re-uploaded, tried using the purple I had to make the ring stand out more (though looking at it now I should try AAing it a bit, too). Thanks for the comment!

[EDIT] Re-re-uploaded with AA

This looks amazing! I can't see the hate for the palette, all of the entries so far have made it look so cool!

Y-you mean it's not a secret because it's such a widely known fact, right

The hair colors were ironically hard to choose, I'm glad you liked that part at least, haha!

Is it mainly the hairline that's jaggy or are there any less-apparent spots I'm missing?

Thanks for the comment!

THEME FOR THIS PIECE

The no-outline version is my favorite! I feel like the forearm could use some deeper shading (not much, though), and the eyes should be white (looks much more crazed than black eyes!) I also feel like he should be grinning (for crazy purposes)

Overall the piece gives off a "silent badass" vibe, while AHHNOLD is on the other end of the action spectrum. This is only my opinion of course, it's still excellent work!

Much better, though I was thinking more of reshaping the shadow instead of removing it entirely. The shadow should follow the shape of the tuft, but it was just kind of a blob on the original. Excellent work nonetheless, thanks for responding

I can agree with the other comments here: The old one is much easier to read at 100% zoom- Though in my opinion the new one looks much better when zoomed in 3x-4x! I like the positioning of the new models' arms a lot more as well!

EDIT: Just noticed the 3-layered banding on the new characters' gauntlets, too! Be sure to watch out for that in the future!

This is awesome! The shadow on his head is a little misshapen, but this is an excellent piece otherwise!

Love the sky in this one! Great work! Could have used some more dynamic thruster exhaust on the racers though. In my opinion it would definitely contribute to the High-Speed aesthetic you've got going now!

Awesome work! I'd have to agree with the other two comments, though; The white outlines stick out too much and the background you started on doesn't really add anything to the piece... I'd suggest splitting the sprites into separate images for each character, and make their backgrounds transparent!
