According to articles posted at Zap2it.com, the live-action movie version of The Transformers is actually beginning to take flight! Read on my fellow 80s nostalgic bretheren:
LOS ANGELES -- Three more actors will be joining DreamWorks' big-screen live-action adaptation of the futuristic robot adventure "The Transformers."
Tyrese Gibson is still in negotiations to co-star alongside confirmed actors Rachael Taylor and Amaury Nolasco in the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Taylor will play code breaker Maggie Marconi, while Nolasco and Gibson will play Army officers. They join the already cast Shia LaBeouf, who plays Spike, a carryover character from the cartoon series, Megan Fox playing his love interest Mikaela, Josh Duhamel, John Voight and Bernie Mac in the Michael Bay film.
"Transformers" centers on two opposing factions of giant sentient robots -- the peaceful Autobots and wily Decepticons -- that can morph into various transportation vehicles and other odd devices.
The Transformers brand was introduced in 1984 and became a phenomenon that has included a toy line from Hasbro and Takara, a comic book series, several animated television programs and an animated feature film.
Production on "Transformers" will begin this month. A July 4, 2007 release is scheduled.
This post is now 6 years old. Who here thinks these movies sucked?
