This is definitely a cut above the rest of the sci-fi lot. The only other sci-fi show I enjoyed half as much as Battlestar was Firefly.

Love that show. Ran into one of the people working on the show yesterday (they were filming two blocks away from my work) and she mentioned that it hasn't been picked up for next season yet. How come all the great shows get left in the dust? For anyone skeptical about watching yet another scifi show, keep in mind that it really is just a great drama that happens to be set in space. Solid writing with solid acting = awesomeness!
