Derek Yu has released a new game called "Spelunky". It's still in the beta stage, but perfectly playable and he's offered a download on his website.

According to his description:

"Spelunky is my latest game project, a hybrid of two genres of games that I enjoy - the roguelike and the platformer. The idea partly came from playing around with both genres separately. It was like I baked two different kinds of pies and then I stepped back and looked at them and finally just mashed them both together. Does it taste good? I leave that to the reader to decide."

Check it out.

Anyone interested in making an ASCII sprites mod? :P

I've made it to level 4... twice maybe. Such a godawfully hard game. But the fun isn't beating it, it's playing it =D

Heck, half the fun is dying.

I got this a couple weeks ago. It's so ridiculously difficult and unfair and I love it.

Spelunky is some of the most fun I had in a long time, I highly recommend everyone to try it out. The replay value is fantastic.

You can still get to that link through his post. That's a direct download for the game.
