This week we want you to make an animated sprite of an original character using just black, white and transparency.
Update: Please make sure your entry is a full sprite of your character. This is not a portrait challenge.
Canvas Size - Max 80 x 80.
Colours - Exactly 3. You must only use pure black (#000000), pure white (#ffffff) and transparency.
Transparency - Required.
Animation - Required. Min 4 frames.
The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.
to be honest it never said "sprite" or at least i don't recall it saying that. i interpreted it as draw a character that is original. but either way what i submitted wasn't an entree i was an example to help people with using transparency as a third color.
Download GIMP here www.gimp.org/ and use http://kieti.deviantart.com/art/How-to-Animate-a-GIF-in-GIMP-40298852 as a tutorial
Can anyone teach me how to animate a .gif or .png file?

Thank you all.
There just seems to be a bunch of portaits in the challenge thread. Maybe it should say full body in the rules.
This issue usually arrises with sprite challenges and portrait challengs.
sprite: full body (head-to-toe)
portrait: face (top of chest up, at most)
Not to say that these are the absolute parameters for what is technically a sprite or portrait, just that we use the most common conception of each term.
There is almost always someone who will make a portrait for a sprite challenge, or vice versa, but as best as I can remember, we've always used the terms to mean the definitions given above.
Whoops! I missed that. Speed reading is never a good idea :)
are we allowed to do a character as in a face portait or must it be from head to toe?
Question on the animation. Can we have 4 frames of animation ping ponged - making 7-8 frames, or is it just 4 frames?
great challenge!
however can we make an actual scene as well and animate that, or is it simply character?
to be honest it said sprite.
