From developer Matthew Klundt comes Sprite Something, an iPad app for creating pixel art and animations. It also creates actionscript files for the popular Flixel and FlashPunk game engines. Find out more on the terriblegames website. See a short demo video here.
This app is not reviewed by Pixeljoint but for US$2.99 it might be worth trying out.
meh i'd say this is better for people who havent been pieling for a long time because i think people would just rather pixel on the computer. it seems like a cool venue to get started pixeling tho.
Well I can't say it looks particularly intuitive or suited to this purpose, and I much prefer my old pavilion tx1000 for touch-screen pixelart on account of it's being a full-feature personal computer...and I'm a little wary of the extent to which this app seems to have gone out of its way to obscur traditional animation strategies and workflow, but hey - if this gets some of those daddymoney apple fake hipster kids actually pixelling, then all power to the Mr. Klundt!
Not really thrilled by it, because the only means I use to make pixel art is the mouse... I can't picture myself making pixels with my fingers, considering I hate laptop finger thingy to move the cursor. I do acknowledge it's potential, and it's cheap, so either way doesn't really hurt giving it a try and supporting the author of the app.
