Phones wants you to make a one screen mock-up of an RPG that takes place in the real world in modern times (eg. The World Ends With You or Alpha Protocol). So no knights, no magic or anything of the sort.
For the purposes of this challenge, modern should mean sometime within the last 10 years. You may add slight fantasy elements (such as talking animals), but overall it should be a game that looks as though it's clearly set on this planet sometime within the last decade.
Canvas Size - Unrestricted.
Colours - Max 32.
Transparency - No.
Animation - Optional.
The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.
put streets, cars, and someone blowing a vuvuzuela as an enemy and you got your modern-setting rpg.
bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Not to mention mother/earthbound are 20 and 15 years old, thus apparently not modern enough for the contest :P
Updated.
I changed the wording slightly to make things a bit clearer.
Also, d-muerte: Yes and no; I avoided using Earthbound (and Mother in general) as examples since, despite taking place in a contemporary setting, they are still quite surreal.
Set in= takes place in, occurs in. The setting of Hamlet, for instance, is Denmark in the 14th century. The setting of Ben-Hur is the ancient Roman Empire, etc.
mockup of an rpg set in the real world. set referring to the setting. not a tile or character set.
OMIGOSH TWEWY. Love that game.
Err, mock up of an RPG set... Does that refer to characters or like tilesets?
Finally updated the challenge checker for this (I thought I had already!)
