Pixel Art Challenge: Time Machine

Design an original time machine device and then show your machine in two different time periods - one on the left side of the canvas and one on the right side of the canvas.
So, for example, you could show your time machine on the left in 1900 and the one on the right in 2012.
Make sure you tell us which years your time machine is in.

Canvas Size - Use template below; each time period must be contained within one of the two sides.

Colours - Max 32.
Transparency - No.
Animation - No.

The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

I really must try and make time to do something for this. It's too awesome a challenge to miss.

2011-your standard home

Perfect.  And I have the perfect palette for this too.

Well, it's 240x160 if you take away the borders :p

Adarias (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 10/17/2011 17:05

Awesome challenge, but wtf canvas size?  246x164?  not even divisible by 8!  dare to be different i guess?

Spherical Ice (Level 2 Dealer) @ 10/17/2011 12:33

 haha, fair enough.

cure (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 10/17/2011 11:59

if it didn't work, then it wasn't a time machine.

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) @ 10/17/2011 11:58

@Club Beuker, It seems that way to me. Why or how would the actual machine change when transporting?

Spherical Ice (Level 2 Dealer) @ 10/17/2011 09:10

Could we twist the theme to be a time machine in, say 2011 that never worked, and then in 3050 or something as one of the "many failed attempts at time travel", where the machine is all battered and tatty?

allaze-eroler (Level 1 Rookie) @ 10/17/2011 06:05

funny though that i recently got my box "back to the future : the game deluxe edition" XD

Club Beuker (Level 5 Detective) @ 10/17/2011 05:14

To get this straight, the time machine would be the same in both pics but the background/surroundings wouldn't?

sasuke91 (Level 2 Kukyu) @ 10/17/2011 03:09

what an interesting challenge ^^

Alex Pang (Level 7 Underboss) @ 10/17/2011 03:07

Could i maybe drop the border and use contrast of colors as a separation?

skamocore (Level 11 Dolphin) @ 10/17/2011 00:52

@Chibiwing - I would say that would be a good idea. The...bordivider should just be there to separate the two images, don't really think of it as an actual part of the image.

oka (Level 1 Rookie) @ 10/17/2011 00:50

can i flip the board so each colored time block will be horizontal?

Chibiwing (Level 4 Deputy) @ 10/17/2011 00:35

Sweet.  Thanks for getting back to me on that so fast!  ^_^

Does the border/divider have to be all one color still?

skamocore (Level 11 Dolphin) @ 10/17/2011 00:28

I don't have a problem with changind the border/divider colour. Although, it will still count towards the overall colour count.

Chibiwing (Level 4 Deputy) @ 10/17/2011 00:26

Nifty.  As far as using the template, does the color that currently makes up the border and dividing line count towards our total color count? And if so, does it have to be that or can it be changed?

cure (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 10/17/2011 00:09

neat idea!
